Scout list players - Performance

Hey guys,

I have a problem with one of my players. I bought this MC on the scout list, and I thought he would be a wise and safe investment, but actually it is not.

This player provides with bad performance on a regular basis, and I am clueless about what could explain such bad performance.
First I thought that the explanation was that he was a left foot player, so I tried to make him play on the left side of the field (but still as a MC), but nothing changed. Then, I realized that I was usually using another MC who has the “Play maker” ability. Therefore I thought that his talent was kind of “hampered” by the leadership of my other MC. But even when combined with another regular MC, there is no difference.

I thought of selling this player, but to be honest he cost me 50 tokens, so I am a bit hesitant about this… By comparison, I bought two other players on the scout list, one of them has just an incredible and very regular performance, and the other one is very good as well. Therefore, I definitely not understand what is not working with this one !!

Does anyone have been in the same situation, and possibly could give a hint about what could explain such bad performance?

Just bad luck. Left foot/right foot, who he plays beside, they mean nothing, you just got a dud scout.
See how he gets on next season as each year form seems to 'reset' itself. If he's still as bad then sell i'd say. :(

My advice always PREFER NORDEUS generated over SCOUT...They are such fast trainers that hey will become WORLD CLASS with a little of investment...

How or where do you find these? I always hear about them, but I think I never saw one.

If you are on old market then you can find them on the first day on new season plus every day after the daily reset...They will be very expensive and will have weird team names...

Have you tried changing his name and details ?????? worked for me with strikers but midfield stats are always very weird !!!!!!

Thx for the advice guys! Well, I will try to spot players sold by teams with "weird names" and see if it works better!

Are you serious when you say to change the name of the player? Does it make a sort of reset or something like this?

I had a striker who couldn't hit a barn door changed his name nationality etc !!! and he became a wonder kid !!! I have no evidence but it worked may just be coincidence ???? worth a try before selling him

Yep definitely, I spent 50 tokens for this guy, I can spend another one for changing the characteristics :p

Dont give up on him yet! just because he is a scout does not mean he will perform good straight away, I have bought scouts that have been average at best the first season but come good the next season, I currently have a scout player ST I bought 3 seasons ago who is like that, pretty average in his debut season but at 29 years old he is currently the leading LG goal scorer this season! I find you get a good season followed by and average followed by a good season.

I guess my definition of a little investment is a bit different from yours, on 35T it wil be hard to get him to worldclass, but I agree with you. I always try to go for Nordgens or similar players, but there's duds in there too. I make an exception for ST and GK's though. When buying these players I prefer match stats. I want a GK that has had 2 MOM awards and ST who's running 1 on 1 for over 30 matches. I have more confidence in them to keep performing then a blank Nordgen.

My experience with midfield players is that you always try and make sure they have more attacking points than defending and physical/ mental. I had a few attacking midfielders, so I decided to create a defensive beast, 2 full points more defensive than attacking and physical/ mental. But, he kept getting 4 and poor morale. I used him on both sides, in the middle, blue arrows and red arrows. No difference. This guy was a stinker. Once I have increased his attacking skills, he has consistently hit 7s with an eight or two.

Try playing a 3-man midfield and see wht kind of performance he gives

Just calculated a few stats of my players. You can see at the top, in yellow, the one who is a disapointment. Unfortunately, I do not see any correlation between the attacking points, and the performance :/

I did not play a lot of games with 3 MCs, but I had a look to the three last games when using 3 MCs, including my scout player, and the guy always had a grade between 4 and 5 :/

I get your point, which seems actually logic. Having faith in statistics seems the good option. However, is it relevant when regarding to some people statements that assume that every year there is a sort of reset, and so that player's future performance cannot be guaranteed?

I bought 4 scout players this season with varied results

2x CM 1 is great the other is poor
1x DC Always gets an 8 and never injured
1x St Scores for fun yet gets injured alot

They train so fast...I did it...without buying any green packs...

Siddharth he said World Class not Scout, there is no way you bought a nordgen player and got him to World Class without feeding him green packs. I'm calling you out on that it's just not possible..... ;)

When you get a good Scout player some are them are only a few points away from World Class

I feeded him green packs...I am not denying that...Its just that I did not buy them...1 as daily gift, 2 for substitution in match, and packs generated from the stadium were enough...

I also played friendlies when ever there was a chance...That's why I always maintain a squad of 22...

What formation are you using?

My MCs regularly get 5/6 ratings.

Reason being, I play a 4-5-1V, with the passing focused down the flanks. Therefore my MC's don't get involved much in my attacks and get bad ratings, so I'm not to fussed.

Try a narrow diamond or a 4-3-3 with passing down the centre, and 90% of the time their ratings will increase.

It really depends, I have no favorite formation, I just adapt depending on the opponent. I noticed a slight improvement when playing with tactics that involve to go with the center, but nothing tremendous.

True, there are many assumptions about the game, but that's what they remain, assumptions. (just as mine obviously and from a relative rookie at that) Some people mention a reset at start of the season, but many more are experiencing it mid season. And of course players will perform differently in a different league or lvl with different opponents so there'll always be fluctuations. Ratings and quality are nice, but I'll prefer cold hard stats with a direct link to a result (goals) preferably over more then 1 season. But you might be looking for a while to find one. My last ST I bought, had scored 59 goals in 50 matches when I bought him. So far he's scored 7 goals in 5 matches. I'ld be surprised if he fell back dramatically allthough it's still early to say.

Btw, that's also the main shortcoming of the android app I use, no match stats! Hmm, should be a good one for the ask the devs...

Everybody on here expects to buy a scout and he will work miracles for the team!, in the 7 seasons ive played this and bought scouts NONE of them have performed like that EVERY SEASON!, sure some do well straight away and others mediocre but they all come good at sometime if not this season but the next! so Im quite happy with that, there could be many factors or none at all as to why this is but thats the way its been for me since I played this game!, I dont buy tokens and I dont buy lots of green booster packs to power train like some of you, I just train normaly once sometimes twice a day and find this adequate for the way I play and it gets the results I need!, players ratings vary from game to game, I usually find at least one player stands out with ratings in a season then next year he might be average!.
You could list loads of ideas like condition, age, training, resting, injuries, any number of things but you just have to take the good with the bad!.

Is your scout player your only 6* player? It can always be a case of Zinedine Zidane playing in Spain's division 2, tho I doubt the engine is inteligent enough to factor this in. BUt it's fun to make up stories like this.

Give him a chance next season, you might be surprised with his goal/assist returns.

I've only had one experience with a player bought from the scout list and he was disappointing until we reached the final 3rd of the season. He performed brilliantly at the start of the second season and slowed down at the tail end. This season he started slow but is now a must start (I've lost matches when he didnt start).

This season my rival & friend bought a scout GK and although he is the 2nd best defense behind mine, his scout GK regularly gets a 5/6 rating. I'll tell you the same thing I told him - he'll come good next season, just be patient. I believe scout players are long term investments and not a quick fix.

It indeed seems a bit unreallistic :p But no, this player is not my only 6 stars player. I actually have 5 players with 6 stars, and most of time at least 4 of them are on the field.

The season is almost finished, so yes it is worth it to wait for the next season and see if he does better. I just hope that my stricker, who is also a scout, will keep going with his actual performance.

Keep him for another season at least. I bought 2 scouts about 5 or 6 seasons ago (MC and DC/DMC) and they both did crap (ratings of 4-5 but I spent tokens on them so was willing to wait and see) that 1st year. After that they performed great - only just sold my MC this season due to age and no chance of making him 6*. The DC/DMC is still my best defender (still 6* though now 27 years old) and is now achieved the most games ever for me (over 145).
