NewchesterUnited advanced to the last 16 of the Cup after a 9-2 aggregate win over Noi Loan FCHL. NU won in England, 4-2, Saturday although a late goal by the home side kept the tie in doubt entering the return leg in Los Angeles. NU controlled the second match defensively and unleashed a five-goal flurry early in the second half to win, 5-0. Kyle Meola scored the last four goals consecutively.

NU faces SANDRA of Iraq in the fourth round. NU will host the first leg Thursday. SANDRA is a challenging opponent. NU expects a well-played and closely-fought tie.

NU took two big steps toward winning its Champions League group. Sunday, the Black-and-White defeated the team visiting from Riyadh, 2-1. Wednesday, NU beat Matheus FC in Brazil, 3-1. NU needs a draw Friday against visiting F.C. Gawky--which has lost all five of its group matches--to clinch the group title. The Saudi Arabian side will also advance to the knockout stage regardless of its result Friday against Matheus.

NU remains perfect in the League. NU beat Marcos FC, 4-1, in Venezuela Sunday. Monday's showdown against Law FC fizzled as the home side recovered from an early deficit to win, 5-1. NU defeated Othmane FC, 2-1, in Casablanca Tuesday. Anthony Kelly scored late in the first half for NU but Othmane tied the score early in the second half. Jordan Gibson's 80th-minute free-kick goal was the difference.

NU dispatched hapless Ulva FC, 5-0, at home Wednesday. The Black-and-White leads joint-second inferior fc and kawinix fc by seven points. inferior fc is on an eight-match unbeaten streak since its opening day loss, 1-0, at NU, tallying 20 points in the process. inferior fc hosts the return leg Sunday. kawinix hosts NU Saturday night.

Before then, NU visits mid-table Cheesy FC of Indonesia Wednesday night. NU hosts Cup and Champions League matches Thursday and Friday mornings, respectively, before entertaining ninth-place yaser of Cairo Friday afternoon. NU then travels to last-place Hai Tien FC Friday night.

Unlike last year CL, this year's CL was pretty straight forward with Winner in each group clearly decided. Once again we are in bloody Group F and our sub team once again in Group E and somehow we are facing them in 1/8 AGAIN (must be the 4th time in CL)

Effectively, we can decide who will progress in our group as we are facing #2 in the last round but I think we will let #2 go through as they are stronger than the other 2 teams thus have a better chance at beating other 1/8 players

As the game kicked off, the Buffs' Barmy Army, packed together in The Choir belted out "Life is-a ro~ller-coas~ter....". Buffs went 1 behind and those nuts actually cheered. Yet Buffs settled and ran out convincing 5-1 victors.

Across town Celtic Rangers sent their visitors back home on the back of a 3 goal masterclass. Higgins converted 2 out of 3 free kicks and Ebrahimpour added a 3rd late on but dominant CR could and should have had a lot more. Perhaps there's 1 eye on the approaching Cup tie?

    Today we faced Gareth Bale

Today we had what turned out to be two very simple matches. First we faced Antonio FC at home in the League, and after a goal at 14 minutes we kept on slotting them past their miserable and useless keeper until it got to our winning score of 6-0.

Then we faced Gareth Bale FC, away for the first leg of the Cup Top 16. We were close in quality and they had a very experienced squad, but it seems that this fan is not as good at managing as their hero is at football. We beat them easily, with a final score of 5-0.

There's an easy way to get opponents who are more on your level!
