    Overall Quality vs Stars

All of my players have lost one star which I realises happens after you move up a level. However they have maintained there overall quality.

How effective will they be? Are the stars their potential/growth ability?

The overall quality generally tells you how good a player is. The starts tell you how good he is as viewed from your level's perspective. That's why they lose a star when you move up the level (hope I'm being clear enough).

Potential is indicated only by players' age and market value (I think).

Nope, there are players on this forum from VERY high levels and they have players with 145, 160 quality and so on.
