Season 57

Academy FC had a poor weekend, winning 2 and losing 2. Both losses were in league, and AFC now sit in 4th place, 5 points behind the leaders (though, after assigning skill points, our quality is equal at 30.3*). My poor results are *likely* mostly due to not being able to watch the games (one at midnight, the other during the soccer tournament I was coaching this weekend). AFC plays at the 3rd place team this afternoon, and I will be able to watch this game to ensure victory. I've also altered my formation slightly, as they play a 3-2-1-2-2.

One of the wins was in CL play, and the 2nd leg is a match that I will be able to attend, against a fairly weak team (20.9*). I plan to destory them and move on in CL play!

What a strange season so far... Who would of thought that patuska who emerge as surprise front runners and challengers for the league title this season and defeated both ourselves and El Capo earlier this season. patuska now leads by SEVEN points after a 1-0 win over Ottomans today and we could only draw with juventud unida whilst I was absent with real life duties with work. This means now in theory patuska can now lose both upcoming matches against ourselves & El Capo and win every other match and still win the league title whatever we & El Capo do in our remaining matches, this now makes patuska odds on to win the title now.

Cup quarter 1st leg drew 1-1 home after my scout and 1st passer get injured for 11 days (for the 3rd time in week) after 8 min my best ST and MR and MC who keep scoring in always in my cup games didn't even show them self this game seem they need some Discipline

Win at the start of the second half of the season. It was a very tough game, 4 goals fell from 75 to 90 minutes, but I still came out as the winner. The fight for the 7 position, and achieved its victory against the much stronger team: D

my Senal CF (was 3rd) today lost 4-2, to 65' was 4-0... opponent (12th) 9Q weaker :D

I'm in Level 3. Has been an Okayish season so far. As usual, got knocked out of Cup in 1st round itself.:D Somehow I do bump into a higher ranked opponent in cup 1st up everytime.:mad: Still fighting on for Champions League & League. Hope to win the League as like the last 2 seasons.

Update on the past few days. Fairly busy weekend, didn't get to watch many of the matches.

League Update:

Ninjaa FC has played and won 3 more matches since my last post. The scores were 5:0 at home, 7:3 away (only time the team has ever allowed more than 1 goal in a match, while scoring more than 5), and 3:1 away.

The 7:3 was against the 4th place team in the league, which is a team that has been consistently performing well despite being 3 stars on average quality. The 3:1 was against the 7th place team, which has the 3rd highest average quality in the league.

CL Update:

Won 4:0 at home in the 1st leg of the Round of 16, despite not watching the match. The opposing team was about 2 whole stars lower on average quality, and lacked any wingers on the roster before the 1st leg, so I set a 3n-5-2 V for the match, which did well against the narrow diamond chosen by the opposing team.

Since that match, the opposing manager has acquired a MR and a ML, and appear to be planning to use wide diamond in the next match. Wide diamond is a formation I've struggled against in the past, but there's still a big gap in average quality, so it's unlikely they can overcome the 4 goal difference from the 1st leg.

Side Note:

2 of my MCs were injured in back-to-back matches this weekend, and both injuries occurred before the 10 minute mark. The first match, the injured player was subbed out by auto-subs, but I forgot to change the auto-subs for the 2nd match to account for the different lineups (didn't cause too many problems though, as it was still a win). Thankfully, MC is my deepest position, with 5 on the roster, 4 of which are 6 stars, and all but 1 are 20 or younger (I keep finding Nordgen MCs). The one 5 star is only a few skill points from 6 stars, and was the 2nd one injured this weekend. The first injury was to Vincenzo Senese, my highest quality player.

Only the 2nd draw of the season for ToanKiller - and no defeats. That draw leaves Rugby's Better in 3rd on the table, level on points with 2nd. However, with 4th and 5th playing each other later we will definitely drop to 4th, and will be 5th on goal difference if they draw. A very congested table!

Later this afternoon we are at home trying to turn around a 2-3 deficit from the 1st leg of the CL last 16.

The same SH*T happened with me today...Got defeated 2-0 by a crap team...

Won away 2-1 and lost at home 2-0...Really upset...:(...

Drew 2:2 in the CL to go out 5:4 on aggregate coutesy of a 83rd minute equaliser from a 2nd corner. Ultimately the fault was my strikers - only 5 shots on target from my 13 vs 9 from 13 for him. Bah!

Did NORDEUS was today celebrating a CL TROLL DAY...:confused:..

Champions League: Buffs FC win 3-0 at home to progress to the next round.

Opposition marched out in 5-XStyle and so Buffs Mad booted each and every one of his underforming no-marks up the backside and onto the park until until they settled in a 3-5-2V.

The Buffs went 2 up in the first half and although the opposition got some shots the commentator was not impressed enough to mention them. Soon after the restart it was 3 and Buffs Mad brought on left back McLeish and handed out the pipes and slippers to settle the lads into a 4-5-1V - job done. Man of the Match went to sub McLeish but the opposition GK deserved it more for some fine saves.

Goals: Law (24), Baxter (39), Johnstone (49).

Next up is a home league match, so no chance of a win there.

Win against scout team - Jose FC. I win (2-1).

Galactico FC update:
League: The Galacticos played two league matches since last post and both were very good wins

Destroyed the team last in the league 12-0 to give the Galacticos their biggest win of the season so far with MR Dino, ST Meftouh and ML Abdul Kadir all grabbing hat-tricks. The Galacticos manager arrived at the game when the team was already 9-0 up giving him a big surprise but left the stadium smiling and happy. 'They earned their rest this time' he said to the media giving a cheeky grin.

League match #2 was a match against the team 5th in the table with the Galacticos manager absent all game, however the result was still a Galacticos victory which proved crucial in their grip on the CL spot leaving their manager even more happy.

It was quite an eventful game with two injuries to both the Galacticos right midfielder Dino and his replacement Milovanovic, but the Galacticos manager set up his team so well that he even had a sub for the sub and the game drew out 2-0 with ML Bouwmans assisted by Meftouh and Meftouh himself scoring a penalty after Dino was injured settling the tie. The other bright side was his MC being injured after the first goal which probably led to his 4 rating at the end of the match.

The results are still inconclusive though as the leader and the team in 2nd have not dropped any points and if this continues the Galacticos will have to accept their final position in the table a few games early. In fact the guy in 1st STILL HAS A PERFECT 15-0-0 record which the Galacticos aim to bloody kill in the return fixture and gain revenge served COLD.

Champions League: The Galacticos lost the 2nd leg of the CL top 16 tie 3-2 at home but go through 6-3 on aggregate to reach the quarter final stage of the CL for the 4th season running. Their opponent will either be BVB Dortmund or Gia Bao FC which both have similar ratings so the Galacticos expect a tough matchup

However, the managers verdict on this defeat was the fact that it was worrying their DR with corner specialist SA was acting overpower mode and resulted in them scoring 2 goals from his corners despite Galacticos DC Kompany having Aerial Defender (wow).

There were some debutants with another GK making his debut with a 5 rating and will be instantly sold (Yes I'm ruthless) and Poor rating for his reliable DL Fondyke but will get plenty of chances due to his overall good seasons. Meftouh got rated 9 but do not win MOTM as the opponent gained victory.

CL 1/8 2nd leg @home: 2-0 win after extra time.:D

League: Lost 2-1 against the 2nd, he scored on a counter in 3rd minute. Only a minute later one of my MC's got yellow and the free kick was turned into a corner kick by my GK. My DC was then confused and thought he was the goalkeeper, so hands and penalty were the result: 2-0 behind after only 4 minutes.
I thought it couldn't get any worse but then in 35th minute my MC got a 2nd yellow card, so for some reason I get more cards when I play with normal tackling than with hard tackling.
Fortunately I played better with 10 players and halfway 2nd half I finally scored the 2-1. After that I continued missing a lot of chances resulting in my 2nd loss in the league (my lead is reduced to 4 points now). :(

Well that was hella close. Despite me having the better formation and team and also having my players where they should be (he had an ST as DMC and an MC as ST) he still managed to score the first goal and I had to clench my asscheeks really hard during this match and actually play defensive to get through. Nonsense aside. Buffs FC and old rivals Fenerbahce SK actually had another very good match tonight.

The Buffs had won the corresponding away fixture earlier in the season 2-1 but it was a tight affair.

Buffs stepped out in a 4-5-1V and Fenerbahce came out in a ND (although they are also known for their 4-1-3-2 and 4-3-3). This was no surprise and even while Buffs hold the better record in head to heads its always close.

Buffs Mad ordered a start in Defensive Counterattacking mode because Fenerbahce always come out fast. The start was frantic with Fenerbahce forcing several corners but the Buffs were breaking fast too, smacking the bar on the 5th minute. The 5th corner on 9 mins however proved 1 too many and their Striker nodded the visitors in front.

It was end to end and the stats (apart from corners) were very level. Although the commentary favoured the Buffs, Fenerbahce were creeping ahead on shots. The Buffs were absorbing the vistors threat well now and the appearance of a supporter helped swing things slightly their way. On 30 mins the switch from Counters On to Off was made and the Buffs attacked. The right and left backs were getting forward and wingers seeing plenty of the ball but the visiting defence was blocking most. McNeill picked up the Buffs customary booking on 33 mins but McGregor saved the shot over the wall. At the other end McCoist missed 2 good chances and Baxter, on one of the rare occasions he found space, tickled the side netting.

Half time came an went with no changes. Fenerbahce started briskly again but the Buffs soon gained a foothold. Both defences were solid and chances were hard to come by. The visitors replaced a striker like for like. Just after 60 mins Buffs Mad sent on James McFadden for the fast tiring Jim Baxter - he had worked hard but couldn't break loose of his marker. 3 mins later McFadden cut inside and poked it through to Johnstone who came in at the back post for a tap in. The visiting Manager must've been ready to make the change because on came a midfielder for the AMC as they went 4-1-3-2. But the Buffs were still in the ascendancy and probed at the defence. On 70 minutes lone striker Ally McCoist was rested and on came Denis Law. Soon Right Back Richard Gough surged down the flank again but this time he got free and centred a cross. Law stooped in a tangle of bodies and somehow got a flick on it. In off the foot of the post and it was 2-1, 76 minutes gone.

On 80 minutes Fenerbahce got another FK but this time it hit the wall. "Was the home hoodoo fixed?" thought Buffs Mad. The answer came on the 82nd minute when the visitors' left back Jamie Carragher was downed on the edge of the box. Up he got to take the kick, a floating lofted ball to the back stick - where MC Ucan buried it.

"Not again!" screamed Buffs Mad. Yes again, another home draw.

The Buffs actually moved up the table to 5th but dropped 6 pts behind the leader. Ordinarily Buffs Mad would think its a long shot but doable. However, with no home wins yet in the league the usual hopeful confidence was subsiding. One game at a time now.

League.. Still dreaming of promotion. Eh, s'allright. I don't want to reach the top of the server too soon. ;)

won my 4 game in a row and 4 clean sheet in a row so a 2-0 win leaves me 1 point behind 1st and 2nd, i also have 1st tomorrow and 2nd day after but still can`t shake the sods off behind me, guess all this level 20 team in level 21 league can do is keep winning i guess ???

The Buffs were getting desperate: today saw the start of 2 matches in a row against the only teams to beat the Buffs in the league and the fact it was at home where the Buffs were yet to win was doubly worrying.

Early in the morning the Troll-Away tanker arrived and Buffs Mad had it pumped directly into the Plunge Pool. Captain Billy McNeill represented the players when he raised concerns about possible dermatological reactions. Buffs Mad pushed him in and announced that anyone not fully submerged would be fined 2 weeks wages.

Afterwards Buffs Park was renamed Abbey Park in a joint ceremony by a Shaman from Kenya, a Voodoo High Priestess from Haiti and Lucky Bob from the White Heather pub down the road.

The Opposition were set out in a 3-4-3 and Buffs Mad dithered before opting for 4-3N-2W-1. The first half was a cagey affair with few chances and while the Buffs had possession, what little threat there was came from the visitors (and their 3 man defence was blocking everything). At HT Buffs Mad gave his team the Hairdryer Treatment and ordered reserve strikers Law and Dalglish to strip for action.

The Buffs emerged from the break in 4-3N-3. The Buffs started quickly and began to dominate. Their shot count was rising rapidly and attacking comments were so frequent that the possession bar was seldom seen. But after 70 minutes there was still no breakthrough. So Buffs Mad went All-in - he shouted at the left and right backs and all the midfielders to motivate them in attack. This time the last 10 minutes went the Buffs way (rather than against which was the recent experience). Central midfielder Gemmill set up right back Richard Gough as he cut inside and played the 1-2 for the first in 84th min and Gemmill also was the supplier from a corner on the 87th which Denis Law nodded home.

Goals: Gough (84), Law (87).

The Buffs remain 6pts behind but move into 4th spot and play 5th away tomorrow.:cool:
