Player cost benefits?

Is there any benefit to buying a player with the exact same position and stats who cost more then a a player with pretty much the same stats?

In some cases I have seen players with lower stats costing more then players with better stats in same position! And age of player doesn't always make any difference!

If this players are aged 18-21, then only difference should be growth. More expensive players usually grows faster than cheaper, but players value depends on more factors.
