Champions League: The Buffs skip over to Indonesia for what looked to be a routine CL win, but are made to work extremely hard for a tight 2-1 win.

The Buffs had already picked up 2 injuries on Match Days 1 & 4. With Buffs Mad tied up with coordinating franchise strategy he had not decided on a formation as the game approached so just shoved out 4-5-1V against the opposition 4-1-3N-2.

The decision on formation was made for him when DMC Alan Hutton received a 4 day injury in the 2nd minute and on came Souness with the instructions to morph into a 4-3N-2W-1.

The Buffs went 1 behind shortly afterwards. Souness was then booked for exacting revenge on the opposition - no doubt he thought it worth it as the opposition midfielder headed to Casualty. The Buffs then pulled level on 37 minutes when right back Gough stabbed home a cross from the left wing. Bremner joined Souness on the Naughty List early in the second half and on the hour Baxters corner was nodded home for a 2-1 lead. Left Back McLeish was sacrificed as the Buffs went 3 at the back and McCoist joined Law up front for the last 20 minutes. However the home keeper pulled off 2 more stunning saves to deny the visiting Buffs.

    Goals:
Gough, DR (37), Murdoch, MC (60)
    Emerson, ST (13)

Highlights: Bremner is now suspended for the next CL match as the Buffs card count climbs to 7 yellows in 7 matches.
Credit goes to the home GK with 4 good saves.

After the match Buffs Mad said "We wanted goals and a win but will settle for the win. I put it down to the home side's over-achievement as not a single one of my lads rated less than 7."

So, yesterday afternoon Academy FC (32.9*, LV 4) hosted Gege (32.8*, LV 6) in the first leg of Cup qualifying. AFC had the full +13% possession and all starters were healthy and rested (Played a 4-5-1V vs thier 4-1-3-2). Gege scored in the 30th minute and that was all for the first half. Three minutes into the 2nd half on of their strikers got injured and (because the manager wasn't present) didn't get replaced. With 68% of the possession but not goals and fewer shots than my opponnent, I pulled off one of my MCs and put in another striker (giving me 4 "forward minded" players to combat their 4 defenders). In the 81st minute, Gege scored again, and AFC couldn't pull one back. We are now down 2 goals going into the away leg, on a day with a full schedule . . .

Today's match schedule: 8:30 AM (originally 11:30 AM) - League at home with Chelsea fc (29.0*, 10th place); 3:06 PM - CL away vs. newFC (27.9*); 8:45 PM - League away vs. xuanquanfc (22.8*, 6th); 11:47 PM - Cup away vs Gege.

I think it's safe to say that I will most likely be eliminated from the Cup tonight as I probably won't be up until midnight to watch the match. I will likely play my starters for the first and last match listed, and my subs/reserves will play the CL and 2nd league game.

Match 1: Lost 3-1 at home . . . they had a red card in the 70th minute, I pulled one goal back shortly after (2-1 at that point) then they scored again in the 80th. WTF?

HOLY SH*T! So, I set my squad last night and made sure they were well rested before going to bed. Set them in a 4-4-2 (Narrow Diamond because of injuries). Woke up this morning . . . WON THE CUP AWAY MATCH 3-0. I'M MOVING ON!

Wow congrats man, it's quite cool to pull that off in that scenario.
