My Free Kick Specialist lost the touch ...

In previous season I bought a scout, MC Free-Kick specialist who earned every Token I spend for him. Beside his good performance, he had over 50% in free kicks, having as you can see 11 goals in 13 league matches, 12 goals in 8 CH.L. matches and 6 goals in 10 Cup (most of them by Free-kicks) :o

This season his stats at free kicks dropped to 20%. His performance is still good but his low % maybe 'll be fatal for the team. This is from the last match I have in CH.L..

He had 0/5 in free kicks. Fortunately I won, but in a Cup game if he could score (0/3 free kicks) I would be in the next round.

Did he lost the touch ? Can I hope for a come-back in next season or it's over ?

I usually buy a Scouted player per season. I had an MC FK specialist that scored 30 goals in his first season and gradually wound down until in 3rd season he couldn't get it up............and over:p

My non-scientific clutching-at-straws observation is that there is a three season itch. Other Scouted players tend to slump at end of 3rd season start of 4th. (See my theory is falling apart already).

Ofc there is also the fact that with slow SP gain eventually even MoM awards will not be enough to keep his performance on SA spefic abilities high.

That's what I 'm thinking. If he lost his SA (for ever ?) and the next season would be just a descent 5* player maybe I could sell him near the end of the season, to get some good money and start investing in a nordgen for FK specialist.

Any player who has consistently good ratings is good enough for free kicks. I have winger who is specialist for corners, but even as 4-star he often scores 2-3 free kick goals per game. Once good player will be good again, so don't worry. But, next time buy a striker or winger with FK ability, 'cause you will boost his attack mostly and that will also affect free kicks...

I'm not recommending buying Mr Scout players....just reflecting my experience with an MC FK specialist's performance tailing off. Players from Mr Scout are a quick fix - I buy 1 if there is a good one there because its 1 less position I need to trawl the Market for (lurking on the market bores me).

I have a ST FK specialist thats not very good with FKs, my Academy AML with Shadow Striker is better (recently) with FKs.

PS. I need a new AMR/MR next season so I'll probably train FK on him like Wolfie suggests (got an Either footed MC with CK SA and I'm quite happy with him as he's my offensive MC).

I don't belive that a player is lost suddenly, I think that like happened to me with Edgar Davids, the player need a level of stars in the attack skills and defense skills (probably defense) to recovery the % effectiveness in free kicks...
In the case of Edgar Davids he was a very special MC because was proggrammed to do the same action in the 70% of the matches and score, the action have a name in spanish that I can not translate and rarely Ive seeen in another player, but basically is a hard shoot from far away suddenly that becomes a goal.
When seasons passed and the attacking skills of this layer were lower than 5*, he lost this ability, but I trained him and again recovered the action he did.
Train mate, as I've said I don't belive that this game is proggrammed in a very complicated mode, that say that with 26 years the player loose an ability or a %.... the % or ability is lost with the Quality decreasing.

Woow, player can loose SA? :O I didn't know that is possible...
Maybe you though his form was bad.

I'm afraid Shadow Striker is not an easy one to track and assess. All I can say is he likes to shoot more than my AMR who is a Dribbler.

Not possible to get SS Sa on MC unless you buy a Norgen with it already there or train AMC on an MC then train SS SA - which is a lot of work and I've not tried it...yet.

As Khris says keeping up att skills by training is good way to keep up FK performance but that has limited impact on a Mr Scout purchase. Much better for Academy/Nordgen fast trainers.

PK, CK and FK are available to all except GK. Shadow Striker is only for AMs but it is possible to find on Nordgens and starting team players because they don't follow the rules, but not Mr Scout players (those ex-Scouts you see will actually be NordGens with non-standard SAs....like the ST Dribbler on my second team : not possible to train but can be a rare market find).

PS there was an old thread about non-standard SAs but I'll never find it. ;)

dont you just hate it when your free kick specialist hits it high and wide into the crowd ??? lol damn all that practice try changing him for a few games hun my keeper did better for a while at free kicks

It's a good advice but that period I bought him, I was trying to find a good MC and SA F-K seemed to me the only useful for MCs (I had another player DMC -Corner sp.) .

Don't get, what defense skills are useful for free-kicks :confused:

Tbh, I got AML from YA, he was great, scoring many goals until he learned shadow striker SA (I regret I didn't teach him FK SA), so i do not recommend it. But, I'm not sure if thats good one for wingers who can also play as AMC...

Penalty SA is @#$%. When I started the game I had in the team a MC with that ability. He was the only 4* in my team, the best player, but he missed his first 5 penalties in row (scored more often from FK)

Its always difficult to know what works when things can't be associated with obvious events.

Is the following guy a good striker because he he has non-standard Dribbler SA which makes him single-minded/selfish or just because he's a good striker. Is a loss of form due to his SA going off or is it irrelevant. Who knows.

PS. I'm cheating cos this is an old screenie, he has lost his goal touch but the team has lost performance too so I'm back to...."Who knows ;) "

and thats why I created the thread of the new abiliities of T11... because some abilities are bad proggrammed and one have problems in penalties in the place of score... with penalties happen a lot to me,.... ability really is penalty-failer lol

I have 3 free-kick specialists in my team that cannot hit a barn door between them. The crowd have claimed a few stray balls from them as have a couple of passing seagulls.
I use my GK for free kicks. 100% success rate.

I have a DML/DCM 7* with Free Kick SA, an AML/AMC 7* with Shadow Striker SA (also currently in training for AMR position as well so I can play him in the team alongside my 7* AML/ML). This setup will work amazingly for 4-5-1V witch is my favorite formation (alongside 4-4-2D). I really think that when I get these players trained for their extra positions my team will be unstoppable and I will get triple crown next season ^_^
