Early in the game before you have established a stockpile of resources, having FAs contribute is a HUGE plus. I quit getting them around level 3 or 4 after I had enough cash to where I didn't worry about it.

I have an opponent who hired ONLY free agents in my league!!! (4th level)
He is sitting 3rd place and one game from his CL spot, waiting for last game against my fellow hungarian (dont fool the name, he is argentinian fan) friend
soo its gonna be really exciting! (more than my last few league games)
And he is doing really good
of course its only a 4th level
