Buying good players?? - what's my mistake??

Hi, there!

I'm at level 24, and I consider myself a good manager since I've achived promossion every single championship, and won championships and Cups every couple of seasons.

I usually buy players on the night of changing seasons, and my criteria are:

- Price (the higher, the better)
- Under 20 years
- Quality (near the 6 star)
- Always Nordeus teams (Fluffy FC, Stinky AC, etc)
- sometimes special ability (1 on 1 finish, for example)
- lower wage for players with the same quality

I've finished 2nd last season, so my roster wasn't that bad.

All the players (5, in fact) I've bought this season (some with special abilitys like 1 on 1 finish) are complete low performers!!
I'm using 4 stars players instead of my (now) 6 stars players!!

Am I missing something here? What am I doing wrong??

Just unlucky with your purchases, perhaps? Do you have more stats? Does the live game show you messages about the way they behave on the pitch?

The stats I have are:
- the endgame ratings (lots of 4 and 5, while players with 4 stars get in the same positions get 7),
- some bad passes,
- lots of gols sufferd while the 6 stars defender is in the field,
- top striker (in atributes) with 1-on-1 finishing, mising in front of the goal.


My main questions are:

Can I do something to "fix" these players?
Could / can I predict this just "looking" to the player on the transfer market??

Can you provide a screenshot of such a player's skills?

One thing I have worked on, since the last season, has been balancing skills. For instance, I won't take on a striker who doesn't have good defensive skills. Then, a defender must have good attacking skills because attacking includes passing. If there is a gap, then I make sure to attribute newly earned skill points to adjust.

I am convinced that good balance makes your players better and more reliable overall. That does not guarantee results, but I am sure it helps.

that being said it`s not you, you will with player`s who have performed well get a dip at some point, i had a great performer for 2 seasons suddenly get 4/5 ratings so dropped a couple games and when back in squad he still got 4/5 ratings but this time i kept in team and after a couple more 5 rating he suddenly started getting 7/8 rating`s

Give them time and they will probably turn around, this is seen several times.

Don't chance too many in starting 11 at once

Iv you're buying some young fast trainers (like I do) and do a power-training in the beginning of the season, those players, cause of the fatigue or some injuries, cannot perform good.
You must use a rotation in training too.

You have to -don't see the stars and see what they do- as Ive said in another thread I'm very practic now with that, so, if don't work, sell.
Too I have to say like eeverywhere that you don't need a full team, 1 new player per line and season is fair enough, so if you see that the team fail don't waste greens training players of 5* to 7* if they don't work because probably many times you don't will have expected results.

See, prove, test, decido who's the worst, and buy anoher player for thsi position. As I always say, a page with the stats of the full team will help us to see what r your players doing (and the Quality page too).
Maybe they spend the live matches drinking fresh beer :o

My MCs (19 years old and 5*) get 5 usually but when I use them other players gets higher ratings than normally they get. So, I am not sure about the ratings.

Leave the ratings in the fridge. Thats not what matter, if you can upload a pic with the page of your team stats, I will try to explain what I mean LOL

no, example of this season :
I bought 5 fast trainers
took the two defenders (who are usually good performers, specially if they are DC or DL/dDC, find in which def. position perform better)
power train them (give sp or special ability)
don't use them in (at least the critical) games for 3-4 days
took my AMC, test him as ST and MC - nt bad, so I power-train him and gave him those positions
I didn't use him in games while I was doing that
I bought 1 DMC, test him in MC position also. Not bad rate (2 7s) so I gave him MC position too.
I bought 1 MC, test him, he was a flop. I didn't power -train him at all. So, even if I gave him chances to prove, now I have him in negotiation list for selling.
I sign an academy player, test him. He got 7-9-8-9. Ok, good. So I decided to invest on him. Start power-training, he injured two times, used him in some games, he lost his form, now he got two 7s. Few training more and relaxing for 3-4 days till I 'm gonna use him again.

not true. I have seen managers with the bare minimum full of scouts with SA and they clean up the league without rotation, simply because they dont have players to rotate.

I bought this nordgen, first day of this season

after a couple of trainings (test) and a participation in the first (cup) game (also test), I started power-training and gathered (not exactly, was given asap) 50 sp for "defensive wall" sa - about 50 3bars/practice, spending about 60 greens.
After that, I continued power training, to give him about another 60 sp, to quality this time. So, from 82q now is 86q (having a new name :o)

In this period of 12 days, I used him only in 6 of the 22 games. (Was lucky he didn't have an injury yet :p ).
Now, I 'm satisfied and from tomorrow I 'm gonna start using him in games, without power training him anymore for this season.
Till the end of the season, he 's gonna earn about 20-30sp (from participation in the games and normal training). I 'm ok with that.
If I was using him in more games (half or more), then probably he would have an injury.
Then I had to heal him with reds because you can't have your nordgen out for 5 or more days. Maybe got injured again and also possible he would performing bad.
Next season (actually till 21 y.o.) he 'll not gonna need so much power training because he has already the sa and he is near to 6*.
So no power training, no need to rotate.

I have to say I'm agree coz I always defend in this forum that this game is not too developed to make players change suddely... I always defend a "lineal" performance due internal % of proggramming that don't have tendence to change 1 day to another suddenly...

You have really a good "base" mate, the numbers are here, you have what I consideer a key player, with 23 goals and 17 assistances, and Murray + Oliveira are the 2nd key players.
I see this called Yimthong that maybe is a ST and can be in the usual squad, not as sub... MoM in the defense and Puyol had a 9, the only that have to go home is Fretes for what I see...

You have a good team taking a look to this... so I don't now what you mean when you say that "don't perform as you want"... LOL

I will keep writting, as I gonna drink milk with chocolate, and will explain what I always explain but in another sense.

Do you remember FC Barcelona strategy when they bought Ronaldinho? the idea was to create a team arround this player. Now Barcelona is doing exactly the same, with Messi, same strategy.

When I say that a team have to have a key player I talk about this idea, because you don't need a full squad of super players to win matches. Just players doing a contribuiton to the team, maybe not every match, maye be the MC's will do a interecting contribution 50% times but is OK.

Then is important as always do the basic work like do tests/friendlies and see the better man for corners/fouls. yesterday I faced the 3rd, 2 fouls in the 1st half, 2 goals. I always see a player that is better in this labour. Only 1 for corners, and 1 for fouls.

And then, after the "construction team" work, the basic work with friendlies, attend and do the correct sub's is too basic, as every game is played in one "scenario" that makes you work and decide as a manager in some cases.
