Is this a bug?

This is not a bug. There are far more silly things that have happened in this game.
I lost matches against Jose Mourinho FC who had a ST with free-kick special ability as GK. The ST made saves as if 'he' was a world class GK. Not even one goal was scored against him after many having played many matches.

Because you didn't organize your team well enough. You lost a player, and you never set your formation properly... therefore there is a "gap" there.

I've seen it from time to time.
