What happened to my players' stars?

For some reason, it seems like all of my players lost one star. More players had an orange star, and some had 2 orange stars. I've logged in now to find out that the stars are gone. What happened? Does anybody know?

You leveled up. Quality remained the same, but stars dropped to reflect the higher level of competition. Stars are purely visual.

The stars relate to how good a player is at your current level, I take it you moved up a level, so your players are not quite as good at the higher level, though they haven't lost any skill points, it's just a visual

because you are promoted to the next level, so all players lost 1 star in tune to the quality of the next level. The quality remain the same but the value of the player drop abit and they are 1 year older in the new season :)

Unfortunately, while the server was under maintenance, a star thief rummaged through every player in T11 and stole a star from every player. :(

It's a sad day in the star-making elves factory since all the elves worked hard to make those stars, especially the orange stars. :(

Be on the lookout for a 128,800,000 STAR rated player with Star Thief special ability. I reckon he's well worth the tokens and money you'll spend on getting him.

OR... even the RED star that my striker had from going down from 9* back to 8*... :(
