i want to play on other server.

i want to play on the same server as a friend of mine.
I know its not possible to switch between servers but is it possible that i quit on my current server and start over on the server where my friend plays ?
And if this is possible, how can i make sure that i start over on the same server as my friend ?
And where can i see on wich server i play ?
