Considering the 'middle' three, with the addition of the extreme usage of resources, it seems that there is likely to be a problem with the functioning of your PC. It could be with the Flash and the Shockwave Player. It could also be because some 'improper' settings that was there on one browser was imported to the others after installation.Quote:

I had a problem with Firefox which caused the old version to load - the profile was corrupted. Try creating a new profile and see if that solves the issue...

Like I mentioned in one of the previous posts, I was using a service that required Flash on another tab, and it cause the game to slow down, freeze and so on, albeit like you said, the game does not make use of flash. So, something running elsewhere might be the cause.
