Day 23 - Palace teams report.

Palace Terriers played their Champions League Semi-Final 1st Leg at home, and overcame a tricky friend team 3-0 to take a huge step towards the Final. Striker Sergi Hernandez put the home side one up at the break, then Samir Gross and midfielder Niklas Schlaudraff scored in the second half. Lukasz Sapela's early booking means he misses the 2nd Leg.

Palace Casuals home League match against 5th place was an evenly matched affair, a goal in each half from Angelo Musto settling the match in the Casuals' favour, 2-1. Christos Topousis picked up a 4-day injury. Again the 2nd place team lost points, so Casuals see themselves 13 points ahead and needing only one win for the Championship.

Palace Terriers had the match that every team needs late of an evening the day before a vital Cup Semi-Final match. At home against 13th place, Terriers romped home 10-0, leaving two players squabbling over the match ball. Samir Gross rattled up a hat-trick in the first 11 minutes, but Sergi Hernandez scored four, and with his 2 assists, claimed the Mom award. Nikolay Radev (2) and Niklas Schlaudraff scored the other goals.

Watching the replay between Romania and Spain. Romania number 10 Stanciu is a thing, I would say he is a dribbler but the commentator calls him a play maker.

Orange Roughies are hobbling rather than cruising towards the finish line. All of a sudden the wins are getting scrappier and draws are cropping up. Still, just one loss on the season, which by all measures continue to be a fairy-tale. Let's hope it's not a Brothers Grimm.

Win 35: Home League match, 4-0. An easier than expected win over a decent opponent. AML Coronel and DC Zeciri scored, and Monasterski caught some of his old "Monster" form with two plus an assist.

Draw 2: Away League match, 1-1. First of two games in one day against the same opponent, who is fighting for a Top-4 spot in the league and also is our CL 1/4F tie.The home side scored first from a CK. We have been noticing a lot of goals conceded from set pieces as of late, and also a lack of production for our side in those situations. Something for the management to take very seriously. It took most of the rest of the game and some desperate subs and tactics for Monasterski to score the equalizer. His once partner and rival ST Kara has been quiet as of late, resulting in being benched more often than not. First place lead cut to 8 points and does not look insurmountable by any stretch of imagination.

Win 36: Home CL match, 3-2. Playing the same opponent back-to-back, we beefed up our defensive line and built on the commanding 2-0 lead after the first leg. ML Orue, former Brazilian kid wonder MC Pinheiro and the new DR Asulin scored, all assisted but the re-energized Monasterski. GK Dudic looked slightly shaky for a second outing in a row, but continued to be the go-to man, as his backup is a young, slow-learning Academy product with a 1% rating.

Win 37: Home League match, 3-2. Taking the field for the third time in one day, this time against another strong league contender, we twice failed to protect the lead after goals by Monasterski (who has regained the club's scoring lead) and DC Zeciri, who keeps finding his name on the score sheet as of late, and this time earned the MOM honors to boot. Finally, MR Willemse scored what proved to be the winner. Monasterski had an assist, and GK Dudic continued to struggle. Top rated ST Kara remained benched and his name has been injected into the transfer rumor mill.

Draw 3: Cup Home match, 1-1. Perhaps approaching this tie against an evenly matched opponent with an overly defensive mindset, we only managed to produce one goal late in the first half, thanks to the combined efforts of AML Coronel and AMR Willemse who assisted. Playing for possession, we stayed quiet the rest of the night, but still managed to earn a YC halfway, the opposition converting the ensuing FK. A definite disappointment, the result will force us to be much more aggressive in the return match. The so far flawless Cup, one third of a near perfect season, is now on the line.

Win 38: Away CL match, 2-0. A much needed pick-me-up after a setback suffered in Cup play. The two top scorers ST Monasterski and MR Willemse produced a goal apiece. ST Kara was pulled and, minutes later, reintroduced into the transfer market, where he has so far garnered little interest.

Draw 4: Away League match, 1-1. AML Coronel scored for our side, but the defense failed to contain the opposition, who drove in an equalizer, robbing us of two points. By a stroke of good fortune, instead of seeing our league lead shrink to six points, we saw it increased to nine when the second place team suffered a rare loss. On the downside, we once again failed to convert any of the FK or CKs.

Phoenix United have made it to their 3rd cup final in a row, beating semi final giants Kat FC. Escobar put away a penalty and RB Azulay scored the winner in a 1-2 game with opponent getting 5 yellow cards and a red.

I am fairly confident of a win as I am the strongest team in the final. Having rested 3 players on suspensions I am delighted with the result.

I expected a four team race, the strongest team Alberto fc, flying eagles, Rama fc and Muhammed fc. I guess I have been running this race alone. I am on par quality wise with Rama and Muhammad fc, but they were inconsistent. [emoji2]

Day 24 - Palace Casuals Cup report.

Having seen the make-up of the Final opponent, the Casuals Management decided that they didn't mind if the team lost the Semi-Final, it would only save them embarrassment later... So the away 2nd Leg Semi-Final match saw the Casuals side packed with reserves, and was the lowest Quality team fielded this season. You can never rely on anything in this game, and the team had a mind of its own and managed to overcome the odds and win 1-0, Massimiliano Gerini scoring the goal which gave Casuals a 2-0 aggregate qualification for the Final.

My quest for the triple treble has come to an end. Knocked out of the cup by a team with identical quality (69.7 vs 69.7). 1-1 on away leg. 2-2 on home leg. Still on track for a double.

After I got back from work today (reason why I missed league match), I found out Celtic lost league match which had bad impact on chances to get back in CL in the next season. Celtic finished as 6th in the last season so after this mornings defeat I thought season is over, but I was wrong. In the 1st round of the Cup 1/2 finals we suffered crushing defeat 5-1 away. After that match almost all hope was gone so I said to myself - All in! Go big or go home. Something big happened, because Celtic won 5-0 in the 2nd round. This heroic victory sends us in the Cup finals.

After a draw in the first game of the cup I manage to win the other leg 3-1 but it was hard, now the final with another tough opponent.

Orange Roughies make the first Cup finals in 8 seasons!

Win 39: Home League match, 5-1: We needed this easy win over a down-and-out league rival to lift our spirits and settle the nerves. Attacking from the start, we did not manage to get on the board until the second half, when our superior preparation and fitness level shone through, and the floodgates of scoring opened. The ever-lethal AMR Willemse scored twice to cement his league leading scorer status. Turkish ST Kara, widely believed to be on his way out, was given a chance to relieve the "Polish Monster" Monasterski and did not disappoint, converting a PK, adding an assist, and earning a 9.1 rating -- not quite high enough to challenge Willemse for the MOM honors, his seventh this season and the most on the team. AML Orue scored and finally cleared the 5* rating threshold. A third year holdover, and not considered to be one for training, he is by far the lowest rated active player on the squad, yet the fifth most prolific scorer, and certainly a more consistent presence than some of the strikers. With this win, we maintained the 9 point lead with 4 games left to play in the season. We are not celebrating yet, but we have quietly started calling around for prices on various banquet venues.

Win 40: Away Cup match, 4-2. This was a huge win over an evenly rated and cunning opponent, delivering a major emotional high to the squad and the management. The opposition had surprised us with a 1-1 draw on our turf, and the scouts confirmed that they planned on replaying the formation matchup, going 3N-1-4-2 against our 3N-1-3-2-1. We made a late formation change to blindside the rival scouts, and opted for an off-balance 3N-5-1AML-1, rationalizing that 3DCs could handle the opponent's two strikers, while the extra AML (the ever dangerous Coronel) could wreak havoc on their center-heavy defensive line. We also chose to go with an attacking mindset, press high and sink the training bonus in the attack as well. Our gambit paid off. ST Monasterski scored right off the bat, and Coronel followed up quickly with a marker of his own. Up 2-0 by the 20th minute we switched the bonus to possession and were "rewarded" by two goals against. While the score 2-2 suited us, the balance was too precarious. Noting that offense appeared to be the best defense, at least for us, we once again shifted the bonus to attack, and the reinvigorated Coronel drove in two more goals, earning MOM, dashing the opposition's hopes and paving our side's way into the Cup final.

I had the strangest game of my life yesterday. Cup match with my main team and my away match was lost with 3-2. No problem. 2 away goals are nice. So I pump up the reward to the max and train my team well. Match start. First chance, wham 1-0. Next chance 2-0. What the..... wow, nice. Next 3 chances 5-0!!!! Yes I am so through. Hahahahahahahahaha, take that level higher team. Second half starts 6-0. I am doing backflips. A friend of mine joins the game as a spectactor. Wham 6-1.

No worries. He still has to score at least 4 goals. 6-2, BAM. Hmmm, no worries I still have the higher numbers, I am outplaying him, boost condition, BAM 6-3. Euhrrrrrr, wait, what... You have got to be kidding me. 3 goals in 10 minutes? Ok lets bring in a DMC for a striker. Wham 6-4!!! NOOOOOOOOOO, come on Nordeus, stop trolling me. No way I am going to loose this cup match after leading 6-0 with 2 players still scoring 10's. Boost defense and keep fingers crossed. Another animation. For the other team. No NO NO NOOOOOO. His striker breaks through, he shoots and........ he hits the pole. PHEWWWWWWW. FC Knudde on to the cup finale which I can win for the first time hopefully and I am still in the race for a treble.

Lol, you win some, you loose some. My sub team lost his away match with 2-0. Return game for the CL was up. I score 3-0 up to the 73th minute. I am safe....or not? Yes 73rd minute, he scores. I get about 5 more chances but no goal so no double for my team this season. all hope is focussed now on my main team that can get into 2 finales and the league is already won.

This is so hillarious

Oh wow, what a day of ups and downs. After the brilliant win in the Cup I was on a high. My sub team went out the CL on away goals. My main team still had a chance at a treble. Today the return match of the semi finale of the CL. My home match was 3-3. I activated the bonus, trained hard again and the game starts. I score 1-0. Things are still looking good. Long match, lots of chances, still 1-0. He commits a foul. My striker with Free kick SA and 135% shooting takes the free kick and he hits the wall. Damn.

89th minute (wow cliche) my MC commits a foul. His DC takes the free kick. No SA and a whooping 90% at shooting. My defensive wall is all about 130% defenders with heading and wall SA. He shoots.........he scores!!!!! Second time out of the finale on away goals. SIGH SIGH SIGH. Better luck next season.

Quickly looked at all CL results. Pitry has scored in every game, every leg from the 1/8 finals up until the final. If he scores in the final that would be a massive achievement.

Actually, the requirement for this achievement in this game is not appropriate as any team that do not make use of the ST position can achieve it by winning the match. For instance, a team using 4-3-3AM, 3-5-2AM or 5-3-2AM is not what 'parking the bus' is, but can easily obtain this achievement, while proper 'park the bus' formations are 5-4DMC/MC-0AM/ST and 4-6DM/MC-0AM/ST.

Two wins today of 6-0 each get us to CHL final and Neymar scored his 500 goal. Also league is on the pocket !!!!

The first one is impossible to win.
In the others, I have about 60% chances - if someone can predict a top eleven game :p

Day 25 - Palace teams report.

Palace Terriers up first and some unfinished business in the Champions League Semi-Final. 2nd leg away, and Terriers completed a 5-1 aggregate victory with a workmanlike 2-1 win, Onder Chamoun and Declan McGranaghan the players on target.

Palace Casuals got back on the winning track again, recording a 6-0 win over a team that has suddenly decided (yesterday) to tank their way out of the CL spots. Angelo Musto racked up a hat-trick, scoring the first two and the last goals, Maarten Wiegman bagged a brace to record over 50 goals in Casuals colours in only 49 matches, and Massimiliano Gerini scored the other goal.

Scoring one goal in two games, Orange Roughies win the League and make the CL finals in addition to the Cup finals.

Draw 5: Away League match, 0-0. Playing a strong 4th place team, we had a game plan, but got trolled out of it in a hurry. Star AML/AMC Coronel got injured in the 2nd minute and ML Orue got ejected with 2 YC in the 37th. To cover the left flank, we added a DL, and largely abandoned hopes for a decisive win. To come away with a draw, playing in front of a hostile crowd with many out-of-town supporters of the home side, was a good result. GK Dudic deservedly received the MOM honors. Curiously, the 2nd place team played the 3rd place to a draw as well, allowing us to preserve a 9 point lead with 3 games remaining. We also have a 25 better goal differential over the 2nd place team. To not win the championship would work something like this: we lose the remaining three and get outscored by about 13 goals. The 2nd place team wins all three of theirs and outscores their opponents by 13. Is this possible? I am going to say, no, not even mathematically. Well, I guess mathematically. But it's not going to happen. I guess we just took the league. Yay.

Win 41: Home CL match, 1-0. Playing with a comfortable lead (2-0 in the first away leg), we were cool, calm and collected. Do we wish we had scored more? Sure. Did we have to? No. In fact, the financial controller joked that DMC Ghighani scored a $1.6M goal, as that was the amount of the promised win bonus. AMR Willemse assisted and earned the MOM. ST Monasterski was injured, but had an amazingly swift recovery thanks to the 15 units of the secret red juice provided by the medical staff. We are looking forward to the CL finals.
