Day 26 - Palace Casuals League report.
'When you fall off your bicycle, the best thing to do is get back on' - Cycling Proverb.
The Casuals Management took that advice to heart and refused to let the 1st XI fester on their Cup Final loss this morning, by patching them up and putting them straight back into the fray in this evening's League match. It took them a long while to get back into the action, but Massimiliano Gerini's free-kick in the 17th minute calmed the butterflies and gave them a foundation to build on. The half-time score was 1-0, and the first half of the second period goal-less as Casuals huffed and puffed but failed to get any end-product. In the 67th minute, Maarten Wiegman romped down the right wing, trailing two opposition players in his wake, took aim from 25 yards out and the ball settled in the opposite corner of the net for the second goal. From then on, the home side turned up a notch and put the visitors defence under real pressure. The last ten minutes were all Casuals: Wiegman added a couple more to complete his hat-trick and Gerini another free-kick to make the final score 5-0.

The third goal in the 80th minute was worthy of goal of the season. Collecting the ball on the edge of his own penalty box, Angelo Musto played a 1-2 with left-back Lukas Lembacker, taking out the opposition right winger, ran down the left wing dogding two midfielders, and crossed past the right-back into the box, where Gerini nudged the ball towards the back post for the waiting Wiegman to slam it into the net.
Maarten Wiegman made his 50th and 51st appearances for Casuals today

On the other side, if the manager of Phoenix fc noticed that it was your team that trashed his team and knock him out of the Cup last season, he might be saying: 'time for revenge; I want to trash this team as much as possible, and if can't, I will make sure I break a few of his players' legs'. Hahaha :p .
3 Cup finals, two trophies, one impossible to win

I haven't paid much attention to TE lately and haven't logged in here for a while either but I knew my team was doing well from notifications. Logged in today to find my team top of the league. Happy days. Attachment 64736
Don't think it could be any closer but can someone tell me what happens if we are still level on points, goals for and against at the end of the season?
Freaky goal difference with second place!
