That usually happens when you play till last man in auction and you have not refreshed your game.I mean new offers are added when you reload game after playing for long time lol
Anyways you are also right,there maybe some 5☆ players in auction who were gone with time.
Keep on reloading page! Else its a bug
It happens the last hour before server maintenance on Day 1.

Few teams, not enough managers from higher levels to sell their lower q players.
