I feel it's normal for a goalkeeper to be happy when he's kept a clean sheet. I've played goalie, and it's definitely pleasing to concede none, despite the fact that the ball was mostly in the other half. He also has to command the defence and set up the wall during freekicks, so it's his credit when the ball hits the wall (especially on the edge of the wall).
