Player never improves with training

Hi everyone. I new at this game so I have a question about a player bought from the assistant manager's recommendations.

He's an AMC and I've trained him all season in almost all of the training sessions but he has never improved.

He started put as one of my best players 59%/19 and I thought, he'll soon get past that, but enough of my team have now improved that he is now on the bench.

Is this common?

He's 26 and is learning a special ability (8/50) but I haven't trained him in a new position.

26 so going to be slow but also he won't improve his skills much while you are have him learning a special ability. Pause the ability and see.

well... my scout 26 years old (he is with me 4 season already) still close to gaining his 8 stars this season,
i think with the new training system... it is not possible to train a 26 year guys...just need to put him on the every game and train regularly (and my 26 scout AMR still the sword of my team... he just get MOM in CL final...(even i didn't watch the game... and he is already to top scorer in these 4 season (of course, he has free kick skills) LOL )

as I have noticed so far, the expensive and young recommended player is a fast trainer while the other two, the older ones are slow (I 'm saying that "translating" their money value to fast trainers calculations).

I just inspected his training stats for this season and he has added 5 out of the 8 he's got to the special ability and +1 to heading. All in around 40 training sessions.

I've paused the special ability training for know to see what happens.

Some players train better than others, but as they said, it doesn't let your player progress normally while you train a new ability/position - which is a little silly imo.
