Low Tier Player really works?

So Nikolgiorgos has tested a 2 star GK in a 5 Star team and it works. I wonder if I place a 3 star or less DF/MF in my team they can keep up with the pros and score decent rating?

It also depends on qualities of the opponents in general. In my experience, players with 2 less stars sometimes well play. Good performance is rare if the difference is larger.

When my teams were in lower levels, they lacked cash and sometimes acquired 3 star retiring free agent players as rotational players. My opponents in leagues were around mid-4 to low-5 star at that time. These retiring players were not likely the best players. But those who could successfully stay in the team were very consistent players.

it was a lower than 1* my GK (as I had him for some seasons as academy player without training).
But my GK had the assistance of good defenders.
Might work but I don't think less than 2* can offer much.
And he must be a superb player.
I had a super ST, but when he became 3*, couldn't contribute anymore (he was also an excellent F-K specialist but couldn't continue with success vs higher q defenders and GKs).

watching the games of friends with the stars of their level (like associations).

Before I sold my my 2 star academy GK, I used him to play any position in friendly matches. Unexpectedly, he is a very good scorer against very very weak teams. Even if he always play out of natural position, he out performs my 5/6/7 star players, in friendly matches.

Well I have a 2 star DL and I tested him in some Friendlies against 5 star teams and unfortunately his rating wasn't that good. Gonna try with my Academy ST next...

I have read many things about this kind of experiments. I was very doubtful so I tried with my second team: I put a 1 star player out of position in my 5 star team. And ? He was the best on the pitch! But I think this is a bias of the game. If you do that on a regular basis, you gonna lose. Otherwise, why would the trophy winners have the best teams starwise ?

Recently in My Champions League Group stage against the 3rd placed team, My team won 3-1 and my 2 Star DL got the MoM!
It's proven that when fighting against weaker team (it's a 4 star team compared to me which is 5) low tier player can sometimes do good?
