"Specialist" vs "Allrounder"

when i browse the transfer market, i often see players like these:

one of them with a good overall rating, the other one with a great defence rating, but bad attack and physical. ignoring age, who is the better player here? i would think the second one?


i guess for keepers attack is almost useless? for defenders i guess its also not very important. and for strikers i guess defence is not important?
and midfielders need both, cause the need to do both jobs to a certain extent?

For Gk specialising is only good. Regarding outfield players people have different views.

I will go with the Specialist. Why would you need a GK with good Attack skill?

anyway the first one is better.. less age and in "2 years" u can put him with more than 36,4 points on defence, cheers.

even if i do the same i prefer not to unbalance so much rising both defense and mental :) +1 / -1 / 0

A defender should focus on defense skill, Striker should focus on attack skills. DMC + MC + AMC mix

First one is better because he have a better general quality but second one have great stats on defence.

At the start, I used to put points on (for example) if a Striker.."Attack & Physical"....he needs good attacking skills, but also the physical prowess to cope, not get too tired in match's etc.

As I progressed through levels, playing higher quality teams, I realised there comes a time when you need Attackers to assist in defending & Defenders to help out in attack...so started levelling them up equally.

Also Nordeus have been clever in the distribution of skills, so that a GK needs def skills and Physical skills (obvious) but also, in the "Attack" section are "Passing & Crossing"..equally as important for a Goalie or Defender in RL, also, in the "Defence" skill set, there are "Positioning & Heading" (very important for an attacker).

So my thoughts are, you need to level up equally, or you dont get the best out of any position.

Don't know if there's a valid answer... I give you mine.
Did you noticed for example speaking of MCs that some of them have better defensive attitude, while others passing attitudes. I mean when you assign skill point the players develope their ability in different ways: you can have an MC with 46 tackles 46 marking 44 position 46 headshot 40 take and others with 44 tackle 45 covering 48 marking 44 headshot and 42 take.... so, but that's just my theory, if you gave a look to the skills you can find the player attitude (more offensive or more defensive) and the position where he may perform better

As Giotto said there are skills that all players need spread across the categories.

Using a striker for example I tend to concentrate on "Attack", "Physical & Mental" & then "Defence". Defence being a good whole 7 skill points behind Attack, as while he needs the Heading & Positioning skills I feel he needs all the Attacking skills more

2nd one sure .. i tested that .. but remember physical attributes is important too especially stamina
