[OFFICIAL] Champions League and Super League - Rules & Competition format

Hey Everyone!

We thought we'd take the time to talk about the Champions League (CL) and the Super League (SL). Specifically:

1) How to qualify for each of these competitions.
2) What are the general and tie-break rules.

So then, let's begin. :)

I. Qualifying

Champions League:
- To qualify, your club has to finish the League in the top 4. Beginning next season your club will be added to a CL group.
- Winning the CL trophy automatically qualifies your club for the CL next season! :)
- Winning the SL trophy will qualify your club for the CL next season as well.

Super league:
- To qualify, your club has to finish the League competition between 5th and 8th spot.
- If you get knocked out as 3rd in the Champions League group phase, you will automatically qualify for the Knock Out phase of the Super League for the current season (at the 16th finals)! :)

II. Competition rules and tie-break

There are two phases in each of these competitions: The Group phase and the Knockout phase. Rules are absolutely the same in both competitions.

Group phase.
Both CL and SL start with 32 teams spread across 8 groups, each consisting of 4 teams. The top two teams in each group qualify for the Knockout phase of the their respective competitions.

NOTE: When it comes to the Champions League, the team that placed 3rd in the Group phase does not proceed further, but that team will be placed in a Super league competition's Knockout phase.

When two or more teams in the group phase are equal in points their spot will be decided under the following criteria.
Please keep in mind that you have to check the statistics achieved through matches that heve been played only between the teams currently in tie. Thus, you must calculate points, goals, and all other stats based only on the results of those matches.

Jeeves: This is an often brought up matter that people contact the support team about each season. Your spot in the group stage is never a mistake, trust me. :) Also keep in mind the following when you calculate your results: Points Win=3 Draw=1 Loss=0

Knockout phase.
CL - The winner in each group plays against the runner-up of one of the other groups. The pairs compete against each other in a two-leg format.
SL - The winner in each group plays against the runner-up of one of the other groups. Those that survive the round of 32 will play against one of the 3rd placed teams from the CL group stage (as mentioned before), in the round of 16.

Tie-break rules - In case of a tie, the away-goal rule is king here. The team that scored more goals while being the away team, proceeds to the next stage.

• You can switch between the CL and SL competition table by going to the respective competition's menu and selecting the drop-down menu at the top left.
  Like so:

• You can view the rules of the competitions and find out how much cash each stage nets for a victory by selecting the blue encyclopedia at the top right of the screen. The Tutorial button located at the top of the newly opened window, will play a video tutorial about the competition, when selected. :)

• The tie-break rules are the very same that the UEFA uses! :) Check them out in our F.A.Q. and also on the wiki.

• The final match - Just like with the Cup competition, the final showdown of the Champions League and the Super League will always be played at a neutral stadium.

Nothing about being placed in a Champions League that is a level above you.
For example level 21 team stuck in with all level 22 teams.

I think the issue with CL draws with teams one level above you should be addressed. This is not fair, especially for people unwilling or not capable of buying tokens.

Of course, it goes without saying that it takes the fun away.

I don't want to play CL, SL and Cup... I want options to turn it off...

yes, what's the point of reading the rules, if you know from the first sight that you have no hopes to win the trophy, as most of your opponents are one lv above and they 're buying scouts for 1 token,

Every League winner, has 70% chances to play in a +1 lv above (the same with the S.L.)

I'll speak for myself now.
I am level 4 with a 101.8% (40.5) roster quality. I have already qualified for next season's CL and as a champion most likely.
This season as a champion I was put in the CL with all the teams one level above me. More specifically there was a team with a roster which is rated at 139.3% (49.8) total quality (7 players with 8*!!!!).
Now tell me if this is fair at all. It's Nordeus basically telling me you either have to buy tokens to be competitive or you have to tank for a couple of seasons which is something I never considered doing but very much fancy now.

The cup was very balanced though, so I got to give you that. But, I'm not really sure if this wasn't just pure luck somehow.

Guys, we're well aware of the situation with the CL and the level disparity that happens some times.

We're working on the matchmaker as we want to provide all of you with a better experience and a fair ground to compete.

"Matchmaker" that´s easy for example a level 22 team plays in level 22 Champions League they do not play in level 23 or level 21 Champions league.
It´s not rocket science is it ?

or if not enough teams just give a CL spot for the 5th...... man Ive been the last 8 or 9 CL editions playing vs +1 level teams there.... finished my strak at 13 CLs won of consecutive levels due that... despite I won some of +1 before but the main problem is the one we know... "market advantadge for some teams".

And how about the League that seems to got screwed this season also? I've barely won it by goals difference for my 3rd treble...Ffs lol

As a previous winner of CL and League winner, the next season's draw was against bigger level teams. Last season I was out in Last 16 and won the League. This season the CL draw is with same level teams only. So basically is this confirming that you only get tough draw only if you win the title or was it just luck?

Yes as expected my level 22 team is in level 23 Champions League.

Not luck really. Your team's performance in the CL is part of the equation's parameters. The online F.A.Q. also states this.

Btw, I've been grouped up in a +1 lvl CL almost exclusively for the past 10 or so seasons. Adding this so it's understood that I very well get the whole debacle. :)

In the last 20 seasons I've won 18 times the champions league,once finished 2nd and once 3rd

I have read the previous posts on the CL draws. Whilst l have been successful in a lot of seasons( level 16 at present) l still find the system of drawing teams from a level above unfair. Teams from a level above have access to better quality players on a regular basis through the transfer system. It is virtually impossible to compete on a level playing field(excuse the pun) without spending huge numbers of tokens on special coaches.
Surely it's fairer to play teams of a similar level even if they have higher points score since their is an equality of access to transfers. If people spend money on token purchase that's their option.
Frustrating system when you know that the chances of success against teams of a higher level are slim. I have put up with this season after season.
As a previous post suggested have a couple of bad seasons and you maybe more successful is an option but be warned the Nivea league is exactly the same.

If you gonna pit me against +1 opponent, at least give me a fair ground to compete. Me and my opp has the same shot on goal but since they stronger than me by 20% (favorite tag for them), beaten me flat 4 goals without reply. I have all condition and moral full together with best bonus money. This is how you call fair game to compete with those +1???

I also have this, very frustrating. Same with the cup also I'm a level below all of my opponents. Can get to the quarter final and semis but the teams are too strong at that stage. Last season got to the final of the cup but got hammered.

There's one team already over 120% who I will have to face if I can past the next few rounds ... he could be closer to 130 by that time.

CL, CUP is all crap, I never play it anymore it is ridiculous to play against opponents at least one level above you thus with much better opportunities. I cut all these bollocks and play only the league, as long it is halfway equitable tournament and you don't spoil it. For the rest I don't play the idiot any more.

I still play CL and Cup 2 and 3 levels above. I start the season 105% and must play vs teams 160% or even +200%. This mean I will play every season for League only. This is not fair. The teams 3 levels above me can buy much stronger players than me. When will you fix this problem. At least apply the same sistem as for Associations, put the same stars for each club, no matter the level difference betwen them.

When we play against higher level opponents, at least in the CL they should appear to us the same rating as in their level just like the association. There is no reason we should be punished for having a high rated team. I deliberately finish 3rd in CL to play in SL, just cause it guarantees me more matches to play.

CL and CUP are ridicolous.

Every seasons in Cup I have to play against opponents at least one level above me, and often with a strong teams; actually, in quarter finals, I am the only at level 13, all opponents are at level 14 with teams at 124% of average quality.

It's not correct.

In CL in my group, always I'm the only at my level.

Why this ridiculous thing?

If I have a good team, I can accept to play against managers of a higher level... but not so strong.

Why I have to play against an opponent of other level with an average of 10% higher? It's stupid, stupid and stupid.

I know many ppl have complained about it, but I don’t think we should be penalized for investing effort/money in the game.

Now I have opponents 1 star better than me. And non-active managers get easier draws.

Erm where’s the logic in this?

I know what you mean. Just stop invest your money in T11. Nordeus don't like money and penalize everyone who invest money in the game. Since I stopped waste my money, I am treble winner almost every season.

I’m ok with spending a little money, like the monthly card thingy is great.

But what I hope to point out is that it makes no sense to pit us against teams 1 lvl above us.

Just like in real life, managers take time to build squads, in hopes of getting stronger the following season.

So logically we should get pitted against ppl of the same level. But no....this game chooses to put us in a never ending cycle where you always have a stronger opponent.

It’s like for example Klopp building Dortmund only to face a Real Madrid team in the CL that grows EXPONENTIALLY stronger relative to his squad.

Please devs.....can you enlighten me where is the logic in this?

The solution to all problems (at least in lower levels) would be:

1) Integral draw for league (30% teams can be drawn with 160%) and associations (3* can be drawn with 9*). This would stop draw manipulation
2) Memorize maximum, along all days of the season, of the median of the qualities of the best-8 players in a team. This would be a quality score for cup/CL/SL draws.

You are inserted in a same level cup/CL if your quality score is below 145% and you are promoted (through league) to the next level

You are inserted in a +1 level cup/CL if:
- you are promoted to the next level and your quality score exceeds 145% but is below 160%
- you fail promotion (tanking) and your quality score is below 145%

You are inserted in a +2 level cup/CL (:D) if:
- you are promoted to the next level and your quality score exceeds 160% but is below 175%
- you fail promotion (tanking) and your quality score exceeds 145% and is below 160%

You are inserted in a +3 level cup/CL ( :D :D ) if:
- you are promoted to the next level and your quality score exceeds 175%
- you fail promotion (tanking) and your quality score exceeds 160% but is below 175%

You are inserted in a +4 level cup/CL if you are tanking and your quality score exceeds 175% :D :D :D

Apart from level selection, cup/CL draws are integral (30% teams can be drawn with 140%)

For example, taking in account the first association in the world, with the new system they would have all been inserted in a +4 level cup:

I have one question for Top Eleven.How come I never get -1 lvl team In Champion league or Super league or Cup?

I am in the CL with 3 managers and they are 50% stronger than me and their players are 60% stronger
What is this then and why is this?????

This is definitely a hopeless mission

I am now used to almost always, 3 years, in the 1st round of the cup is worked out but this does not make sense

Maybe the slot at your lower level always enough. Cause i get 2 teams at -1 lvl in Champions group league.

How can this be possible?

First place: 13 points, 6 victories, 1 draw, 1 defeat, 16 goals scored, 6 goals suffered, goals dif. 10

Seccond place: 13 points, 6 victories, 1 draw, 1 defeat, 21 goals scored, 8 goals suffered, goals dif. 13
