Losing a player because of debt

How does this work exactly? How is the exact player lost actually assigned? Does he have to be form the subs? Is it by value? I'm looking to get the achievement but I don't wanna lose an important player

you lose the most valuable, no matter where he is placed. typically the last you have signed.
you have some days to bring back funds or select players to sell

The player taken from a squad because of debt will be the one of highest value, wherever he is in the squad list. When you get into debt, you have 7 days to clear it, otherwise, out he goes...
