What does the captain do ingame?? Does it modify something in the player?
good question ...
From what I read he doesn't do anything special...
I think it's more a symbolic element to the game :)
Just like left and right legged player. It is just there for fun.
I think they should make these things do something. I have no idea what... But it should have some effect on the game or player.
Its annoying how much of what I do in the game I find out is pointless.
thats right, captains, left-right legged, height, weight....all these doesn't make any player better or affect the team performance.
Unless you know for sure, I would assume that you are not correct.
This is a simple game based on numbers. Before the game, if your number is higher than the opponents, you will win. The game creates the drama before and during the game to entertain you. The fact that a player is both legged just gives you a higher number. The fact that your player is Canadian give you a higher number ()
Captain, on the other hand, confuses me. One would think there is a reason to have it other than every team in sports has one.
Does it give you a benefit? That, amigo, is something I would like to find out. Maybe you get an extra 1% possession if your named captain is on the field? Who knows?
I dont think the height and weight makes any difference.
left and right does matter. For example of you have an MC and your MR gets injured your right footed MC will work better in this position than a left footer.
It also helps on free kicks and corners.
In regards to quality scores, you need to be careful as quality for a can be affected by the entire squad and therefore brought down by lower quality squad players. Ie the first team amy be a lot higher than the average quality suggests.
Also depending on how you load your skill points an average looking striker could have a massive attacking score and very low physical and defensive score.
Take this into account average means AVERAGE across everthing
If captain have some effect I guess the effect is not that substantial.
However, regarding the left or right legged do you think it is that important? You can easily see on the market there are many left foot who is DR, DMR, MR or AMR, vice versa there are many right foot who is DL,DML,ML, and AML. According to you, we should not buy these players since they are in the wrong place with the wrong foot?
I think the foot is important in every position for determining the winning solution for the game engine. Why have it if it is not important. Height and weight might have some influence, but probably very little. tall defenders might be better, heavier players might be better or worse depending on the position. If not, then the height and weight are there to make things a bit more human.
When can we get confirmation of any of these questions?
I think it gives a small performance boost to a player; at least from my perspective. My striker I had since League 1 has been scoring goal after goal after goal. And he's only two stars.
Since I decided to give my best DC the captain's armband, I noticed that my defence started to play much better + scoring goals. :)
My 19 y/o playmaker MC Player form was always 5-5-5-6-4 but since i made him captain he consistently gave 7-7-8-7-8 sometimes 9 or 6 ,he was captain for the last 2 seasons and this season i decided to remove him from captain this year and he gives me 6-7-6-6-7... i have reinstated him as captain and very curious to see his performance now hehe
Once again. A 2 month old thread has been bumped back up.
What is wrong with old threads being bumped up if you are talking about it? Isn't it better than creating a brand new thread for the same issue? This way you can see a lot of responses from before that be beneficial. Maybe selecting someone a captain will make that player have better ratings.
Do you just pick one player on the list or have lots in case that player cannot player?
I think this calls for a trial run on Andre Steigelmann (the player that has had consistently poor ratings in games he has played so far this season).
Will give this a shot in the CL game later tonight with Steigelmann as captain.
Just pick a player that looks a like him and you will do fine! :D

OK Batman it is!
Listen i only commented [or "Bumped" ] on this post because my friend was asking me about Captains role and there were no active threads about it.
So i posted my views and also just checked out what some other people had to say...
which would be helpful for some of the other newcomers aswell Right?
Any Probs?
I would have to agree with gtmsnba13. I have noticed that a player does tend to perform better when he has the captain's armband! I also had a Centre Midfielder (a young player) since League 1 who was my captain for 3.5 seasons, and each game he would put in a 'captain's performance' and rate highly. And he isn't the highest rated player in my team. Also at Level 4, I had a scout Left Midfielder whose performances are quite average at best, but plays better and scores more when he is captain. Could just be a coincidence, but I have noticed it makes a difference.
I usually give the captaincy to my older players
