My ST, whom I use as GK in easy games, doesn't score too.
Also I 'm pissed :mad:

I am on top, but not doing much for the competition, as I have a very tough league and have to win the games first of all. Tried GK or D for freekicks and penalties at some time periods of games, but no real success.
I'm in 2nd in the all-out attack challenge. I'm playing the keeper in blowouts and against bottom feeders, but another manager has him on all set pieces always; so I doubt i catch up to him since I don't want to increase the risk of dropping points letting him back into the league race. I've had to pull the keeper off set pieces on a couple of occasions, leaving it late, picking up the game winner in 78' and 88' minutes respectively in two league matches.
The problem with using the keeper (or even a defender) on set pieces is this. If I put a subpar player as my set piece specialist, it could turn a draw into a loss, or win into a draw, and the man of the match skill point goes to the opposing managers player. I also have more control over where the skill point goes if i put my aging star on set pieces. The loss of a man of the match skill point, can hurt when trying to maintain the quality of an aging star player.
Yeah but the chances of any of that happening are slim. I have no control who gets motm (usually one of my amr/aml but sometimes my keeper or DMC gets it) so to hope your old player has a chance of a free kick are low and also to be able to score from it is also another chance.Quote:

In the grand scheme of things..... Get a younger player? Its so much simpler to let them naturally progress than to try and manipulate the off chance of giving a guy +4% on passing.

I understand where you're coming from. In this case, I happen to have a great player, so if I replace with a younger player, i'm not going to be able to repeat that type of production. It's inevitably going to have to happen, but if I can delay it for a season, it's worth it :)Quote:
