It means his contract is expiring. If you click on the player, than click on "Contract" it should say "Contract will expire this season". Then you can click on "Renew" and see the cost to re-sign him (although those players are old, might not want to keep them since they will not train well next season if you promote).

it's not missing, it's the yellow card above it.
There are some signs which cover others.
For example if you 're selling a player who is injured, the red cross covering the auction's hammer.
