King of the Hill event doubt please help

In King of the Hill event if I defeat a manger with zero trophies within event and zero trophies in past seasons will I get a trophy added to my tally?

You can only challenge opponents from which you can gain a trophy if you win. Those from whom you would get nothing, you can't challenge.

So that means even if a player never won a trophy in past seasons or even in the event, I will still get a trophy after I beat him right sir?

The event is not about trophies, is about challenging and beating the highest number possible of opponents one more time than they challenge and beat you, before the time finishes.
