probably some old drunk hooligans who dressed up thinking they could try out for your team. Train them until they puke!!!
If you had players who retired at the end of season, the game gives you crap replacements

The senior centre players will only arrive if there is a gap in your team, they will fill your team with players to complete starting 11+7 subs...

That's kind of useful. But wouldn't it be better to also get some compensation too like some coins or money; especially from retiring players.
