Knowing Nordeus and having experienced Special sponsor events before (we had a similar Kings event task in the first one), I expected that we would have an Italy tour task so I didn’t play any games in the tour event. It’s how they work unfortunately...

Agreed. You should have patience with Special sponsor event. Wait and wait and wait till the last moment to complete any action in game.
