I find that the free kick ability is very effective, plenty of my goals are scored by FK takers that have the special ability, only problem is my team has 6 players with this ability. Not sure about the other abilites mind. think One-on-One scorer is ment to be good too.

I had a corner specialist who got about 20 assists last season from corners alone. When I didn't play him, I hardly scored from corner kicks. Free kick specialists are useful as well
There are some pointless ones like penalty scorers and penalty savers.
