overall vs skill distribution - inconsistence

I would like to ask if anyone can say anything clever on the topic.

Last season I played the whole champions league group stage with my reserves. Despite being 20-30% lower on overall than my oposition (for example 60-few % vs 95%). I managed around 60% possession, more shots, mpre shots on goal. 4 wins, 1 draw, 1 lost. I like to tell myself that it is because of my proper skill distribution, as I call it, Meaning some of my reserves have way better skillls than they should have, considering their overall. an example would look like this:

Now it doesnt work the same in league or any other matches at higher overalls, despite my main players looking for example like this:

The question is, why at lower overalls it doesnt seem to be a problem to overrule overall with porper skills, while at higher overalls a guy with all skills at 140-150 betas you up and there is nothing you can really do about it?

We are not talking just one game, but a dozen of seasons of that kind of experience already. And I dont mean lucky or unlucky results. Im talking about having the advantage or not, regardless of result. (as these might be a fluke from time to time and I dont have a problem with that happening)
I know its a simple, mobile game and we cant expect too much perhaps, but then if overall was the king then how come sometimes its not? Leave alone the fact that a team having more possession just because their gk has more creativity or the sc has more tackling is kinda bad on its own.

How did you get a Champions League group with teams of 95% and League opponents at 140-150%?

I think that there is a variable in the game engine that Nordeus changes every day.
Somedays it favours white skills, some days it favours overall skills and some days it just tosses a coin!

Its kinda hard to fully explain, but its all probabilities, white skills tend to benefit for that specific role, because for example you dont expect your striker to tackle opponents attacker. - Therefore, no benefit to put any points on tackle.

However if probability made your striker tackle an opponent, and when your tackle is low (probability to commit a foul would be much higher compare to a DC that has high tackling.

Though mostly training white skills cant go wrong and are the most optimum if you ain't sure what you doing.

Well, Im fine with the probability. Meaning that once in a blue moon that striker will win the ball and score an easy goal (which we never see in the 3d visualization btw... but it happens in the real life, so let it be). But computing a possession advantage over the whole 90 minutes for a guy who doesnt have a single passing skill over 200 (or any other skills over 200 to be exact) while I have 5 guys with passing of 250+ (and few other white skills over 250) is a completely diffrent story.

Its an engine, ergo some maths formulas being implemented, not real life when you can just "have a better/worse day". And even if we considered some randomness: how many matches would we need to watch before we meet one where a Sam Marino team has a possesion advantage over Italy? ;) I dont think its to be defended neither logically nor mathematically.

How do defenders who are 130, more like 90 to 110, steal the ball from strikers who dribbling ability is 170 and up? Okay one time, two times but every time?

I think its safe to say that the diffrence in quality of players is huge here. Possession? 51-49 in his favour. Score? 5-0 for him :) Logic? Nah... who would need any, right?

Are you able to show us the rest of the teams?
Was he around an attack of 180%

Im not sure its very useful to show each and every player individually, but thats the exact problem I am talking about. If you actually look at them players the diffrence is noticable. When you look at the match stats its not visible at all. Just because the overall is similar.

this guy is good DC but terrible DMC. also the 2players you post above is good AMC but terrible ST and AML, AMR.

I'm under the impersion that high white skill players do really have a good performance in association and event games, as far as leagues, cups, champions and friendly league the game engine tends to minimze that players qualitiy so having those kinds of results losing many games even tough a much higer posetions and even more shoots...

I don't share these kind of experiences. I try to maximize white skills, but I do use grey skills to boost my training. So most of my players white skills are around 150-160 and grey skills around 50-70 maybe. Only best players reach 'mutant levels' when they are around 30yo (grey skills 1, white skills 200-400). I have played for years like this and I haven't noticed any change in success. My best players score in any kind of game just the same.

High whites generally give better performances but there are predetermined matches that you will lose no matter what. Event teams aren't well trained but they upset our well trained teams often. We all have seen association games where all matches end with a draw or untrain teams upset well trained teams. It's the same story for our other 4 tournaments. Roll of the dice and luck affects a small percentage of our matches but some of these can ruin an entire season.
