How does club ownership work?

I have a friend in the same league as me and his club's name would always appear blue to me.
But a few days ago I saw the name turn white and when i checked, it became a bot team, but the most screwed up part of it all is that my friend-turned bot team is now challenging me to friendlies on a consistent basis... what do i do bout this?

This is a bit confusing. As you say, he was highlighted in blue as a friend. What I can't understand is that now he is a bot, and shows up in WHITE, he should no longer be a friend. So how can he arrange friendlies?
