Why my players always have unnecessary passes

Hi, I have some questions about force counterattcks

I always play 4-1-4-1, with
-Normal Mentality
-Mixed focus passing
-Own half pressing
-Normal Tackling
-Mixed passing style
-Man-on-man defending
-Force counterattck

Why my players always pass instead of having immediate counterattcks when my opponent has 'hits the ball upfield' and 'make a long clearance'

I've never used that in my two seasons on T11...always thought of it as counter productive myself but it's each to their own...see below for the results of my team not using it ...

Id like to know if is of any use though ...
