I spent a token on renaming a player after my soon to be in September first grandchild Jack Beers, he was Ake my best signing from season one and is captain ( central midfield player), has anyone else named a player for a special self indulgent reason ?? Its the fun of the game
All the time. I give them ridiculous names like Zenith Zenzizenzike for a laugh.
Selling real players to noobs will earn you a lot of money. Simply rename your player to famous players and you'll start earning from noobs... Crap players named Lionel Messi earns a lot.
Well I am a newbeeeeee but haven't fallen for it lol, but will now as in season two might do that with my crap players ...thanks for that lol.

I name the captain after myself, and the rest of my squad after famous players from Hong Kong, where I'm from...
Thing is, I'm not used to seeing a bunch of Chans, Los, Cheungs, Lees running around (lol) we use initials on the back of the player's shirt as well because some surnames are just way too common. Korea and China use this practice as well....so you see players like K. W. Lee or something like that.
I'm a complete n00b, overpaid for a player, used 10 tokens to get him, and then changed his name to my own.
Lets see how he (I) get on tomorrow :-D

Once you get to few levels higher, it doesn't seem cool anymore because a lot of people have those names. What I don't see a whole lot are legends. So naming your team based on some players from 80's, 90's is cool. I see Maradona, Pele, etc. but if you go "2nd tier" like Bebeto, Careca, Ceulemans, Scifo, Deschamps, Koeman, Laudrup, Boniek, Milla, Alex McLeish, etc. I don't see those guysQuote:

Also I seem to be adding like 4/5 new players to my first team every season so would be a gross waste of tokens simply renaming every season.
I've named a few. I had a player named Jose HeadDeBall first season - I love the idea someone in Turkey is using him after buying. Unless they re-re-named him of course. I sold Eddie Vedder [lead singer with Pearl Jam] recently too :D
Haven't done it and probably never will - it's a waste of tokens, since I'm not a buyer and I don't get any entertainment from that either. It's even annoying and I avoid even buying renamed players. However I do have an Iker Casillas GK however, got him as a free agent 2 seasons ago when I needed a second GK.

I did have a midfield player who was my midfield general. I renamed him DICK TATE
In my first season I named the best player I had after myself, now he's the weakest in my team, I should really sell myself, but I'm rather attached ;)
I named my star player after a friend on top eleven who convinced me to sign him after we conferred on which player I should sign on a scout list.
I usually rename players from Asian countries (not racist, I just find it hard pronouncing Thai or Vietnamese names etc.)
Seriously considering renaming my star striker to General Admiral Aladeen, but I can't find any countries that sound like, or have a similar flag to the fictional country of Wadiya.
Haha I also named one of my players after myself during my first season (last season) but I've used my african name to be discreet. I made sure he was one of the faster trainers so he wouldn't fall behind too far, but he kinda has. If I get a player who I think will be with the team for a while, I'll usually rename him to be from my country.
I rename every player I get. It's only one token and it's a wee bit of fun. My squad is comprised of all my favourite Celtic players past and present. However, I have never found any players worthy of the names Henrik Larsson and Tommy Burns. Hopefully one day these legends will be added too when I strike gold in the TM

to the ones who sell player after rename. Thinking about value of 25 token, and se how much 1T went? then recalculate if it worth to rename your player
I renamed two players, the first of which was in the original post and the other is Geoff Hurst, didnt want to name any after my football team but thought it would be fun to change it to Hurst as he did score 3 goals in the WCF back in the year I was born lol.Quote:

Just a personal opinion, but I hate to see names of REAL players in the game, just the same as I hate REAL team names. Wish people would use some imagination sometimes.
In my early seasons, I once bought Carlos Tevez from the transfer list. As soon as I signed him, he got his name changed to an anagram of himself. He played as ZAC LE'STROVE
