I'd love to face a friend in my League, but the game refuses to arrange that. Anyway ... you'll have to unfriend them if you don't want that, the FAQ says that when the league is assembled the game will try to put as many of your friends as possible in the same league with you.

Remove them from friends :) and next season you won't have this problem.
