I have quite a few friends on this game and sometimes 5 or 6 of them send me packs but when i go to get them i only get 1 pack. Is that right?? seems a tad unfair that i only get 1 pack from 6 or 7 friends

Yes that is right. You can receive one booster per a day. One green, one red and one blue.
Yes, it's normal - you can only get 1 gift of each kind per day.
