what is illegal formation

I read though many post....and they keep mention about some illegal or legal formation
Can anybody explain what does that mean

For your formation to be legal, you need 3 defenders, 1 striker, 1 goalkeeper and 1 or 2 players on each side, left and right. These are the basic rules.

There's also some rules that noone is sure of yet, like needing at least 1 player in the middle row, M row, M(L/C/R), or at least four players in the opponent's half, M row and forward.

If you don't follow these rules, your formation is illegal and you will have only 20% possession.

A formation that is considered illegal is one that has less than 3 defenders, at least one player on each side, etc.. Potemy pretty much covered it.

You get penalised if you play an illegal formation and get 20% possession in the match.

Its stupid having rules about formation. Barcelona plays s everybody knows with a so called fake 9,its not a actual striker n top eleven consider it ilegal, stupid. Why u need a striker if u put an amc attacking....
