Hey El-Duderino ,
my brother also has a team and recently decided to move to classic 4-3-3 (4D-3MC-3ST) and set mentality to defensive , but it doesn't work as smoothly as you described so i wandered what were your other settings (man-to-man/zonal, type of passing, mixed/through center, tackling and so on....) .
do you play with any arrows ?
i useally play with 5-6 other formations so couldn't really advice him on the matter...
-
If he is the one using 3 ST he shouldn't be playing defensive.
You should only play defensive when you are FACING 3 ST.
-
With 3 STs defensive mentality ?
I 'm a rookie, not master in tactics like El or t11 but it doesn't seems logic to me
-
Actually , in his case it makes sense to play defensive because the problem is this:
he's lvl 12 , and he has 3 great strikers, 3 good MC . only 2 tokens , and a mediocre defense and goalkeeper .
the question is how to make use of what he's got....
-
If your offense is good, why would you play defensive? 4-3-3 is an offensive formation. Playing it defensive nullifies it totally!
If you play 4-3-3, play it normal or attacking, not defensive.
-
I see what you mean EL-Duderino, and normally i would advise him the exact same thing , but the problem remains - everyone on the attacking side are great. but his defense is a bust.
how can he make up for his mediocre defence?
-
By buying good free agent defenders?
Just leave the defense as it is. Even low quality defense can stop big players (I live it every match). As long as the formation is good and can hold against the opponent's offense, it'll be good enough.

Ok, let’s talk about a senario.
We have 2 teams (like the example) with one team 1star stronger (scout level) and the other 4-5*.
Assuming that other conditions are “standard”, like –the morale/condition of both players, no bonus or max bonus both …
Stronger team ‘ll have the real possession. If watching/not the match or tickets or friends , I believe it’s kind of “fake” possession.
I have the sense that real possession is coming from the Q of the Middlefield players (talking about classic formations 4-4-2, ND, 4-5-1).
The scout team is playing attack (not 3 STs), the 5* team is playing def (a kind of 4-5-1) /counter. The weak team hopping he’ll be lucky, his defense hold the opponent and in some counter he ‘ll score.
The other scenario is that the weak team if see that the other player has only 3 DC (or DR-DC-DL) put 3 ST and attack.
So, can we say that 3 ST is a counter against a stronger opponent with only 3 DCs ?

3 DCs and a DMC just to make sure.

So you believe that the guy in my showcase, in the first page, did well playing with 3 STs instead of a 4-5-1 def. even if was 1* weaker ?
That needs guts :p
