what happen to the player after I sack him? can someone else go and buy him for free or something or do they just disappear from the game? can someone elaborate on that?

They appear free of contract.

If you are not on same server with him you can't see him :)
Also that player will appere only for players who see him like 1*,2*,3* stars :) cheer!
