The first day of the season is the best, everyone is looking for new players to challenge in a new, higher level. Definitely the younger the player, the better. Sell any players you don't need and keep the best. I keep a squad of about 20 players for myself, leaving me a few spots for youths to train and sell on the first day of the next season, and I only do transfers on the first day of the season.
