What difference does match preparation bar make?

Any idea how important it is and how much it affects outcome.

Eg its on good status, but it tells me to do 2 training sessions. I train my reserve to do a couple of stretches, which obviously will have no impact on match... But the preparation bar will now show superb?

Is it just a basic gimmick that has no importance to active managers?

I generally do the same as you but on occasions not trained then played a game with no discernible difference to the outcome (I won).
