you definitely need amr and aml...so maybe 4-5-1 v style...down both flanks..

I hope I'm not too late: I think I would use 4-5-1V as well or switch to a 3N-2W-2N-2W-1 (Butterfly) formation. If your squad can do both formations I would start with the 451V and see whether it does work or switch after 30-40 minutes to the other formation.

I guess it does depend on the quality of his AMC. If he is much stronger than his AML/AMR teammates, the 451V could be more suitable for your defense. If his offensive wingers are strong, the butterfly-formation could help you out more.

Regarding the tactics: Down both flanks (as MackoUsko already said) and since my last very hard season I tend do play defensively ("defensive") with counter attacks against similar or only slightly better/ worse teams. If I am playing defensively I would try also a long passing style, high pressing, hard tackling and man-to-man marking, without the offside trap. So in your case, I would use these tactics. But I don't know your team so it is hard to tell whether this would be a good approach.

With which formation did you loose in the first leg? Feel free to post a screenshot of both yours and his team so we can help you out more.

    Best,
    Nidd
