    Questions about special abilities

Hi there, I have a few questions about player's abilities.
    1. What does defensive wall do? is it wall as in free kick wall or just better at stopping attacks?
    2. What does shadow striker do?

    Also, should i give my players special abilities? I have a DC (19, 27Q), AMC (21, 30Q) and a ST (21, 28Q and 22,29Q).
I am level 3 and currently much stronger than most of my opponents, so is it worth spending the points on abilities for the long term?

    Thanks!!

The defensive wall will cross attempt the free kick and the shadow striker will shoot from long range like 25-35 meter and will be a goal about 70% to 100
If u have a good shooting player will score from that range too

Its a real good question. I have the impression, that the special abilities are very effective. I.e. if you have a striker that is a Freekick specialist, he will do a lot of goals. The guy 2nd in my league has sucha player and he scored the most goals by far.
Shadowstriker is very nice for an AMC/AML/AMR
But I dont know either if I should train my Players and go for special abilities or just train them. Im going to doa experiment with my best two players who are 18 and 21, so I think everything below 22 is quite fit for such an adventure

Does the Heading ability also grant Attacking bonus, does it have a special combo then with freekick specialists?

Defensive wall is good at blocking shots from free kicks
Shadow striker has good shooting stats and will score you a lot of goals.

But if there is for example a 5* player with no special ability and a 4* player with defensive wall special ability, I'd go for the 5* player. Of course it's better to have a 5* player with defensive wall but it's all down to their specific stats

My best player specialises in corners but is excellent at taking free kicks, so it's all down to their stats.

I agree with altrico that SS is good for AMs, but I'm not sure about the other two who mention the effects of both special abilities.

I don't think it's good to put skill points into special abilities, unless the player is young and gains skill points fast. Definitely the stats are more important than a special ability.

You could refer to Accryover's thread for the list of explanations on the special abilities. http://forum.topeleven.com/tutorials...-part-1-a.html

    Refer to Part 2.

Hi Dv8r, observe something kinda strange. I have a 2* 31 year old defender with Aerial Header ability. He seems to perform better than the other defenders with 3* and 4*. He has gotten MOMs for matches and consistently high ratings for games. And he sometimes scores goals too.

And some players with high crossing and passing kicks the ball wide into the crowd from free kicks sometimes...

    strange strange...

It's not worthwhile to push skill points into special abilities. Cost u many points when the players could have moved up in the attributes.

I like the idea of a special combo. Haha. Interesting. Not sure if it works though.

well, in my 1st season, I had a 29yr old DC that I tried to sell (and failed) cuz his stats sucked and was worst on the team. After some hard tackler injured 2 defenders and knocked them out for 5 days, I had to sub him in. that dude was MOM 3 times, he scored (5 goals total), and his average rating was 8. I swear he's like giving me and retirement two middle fingers up. and it was just 5 matches.

oddly, I actually succeeded in selling him 2nd season in. his replacement ain't shabby, I bought a cheap 26yr old as back up after I sacked everyone 30 and above, and he's the one getting MOMs (not the 18-22yr olds). no scoring, but quietly stopping goals, average rating 8 and collecting MOMs.

and none of them have special skills lol. strange x3...
