Yes, this has happened to me before. The auction is locked..any bids won't count but you'll still lose tokens!!! So whoever was the last bidder, won the auction.
It is a glitch btw.

It fixes by time, I once had a crazy experience with this bug.
There was a player on which over 10 people were bidding on. Note that I was not qualified for Round 1. On Round 3, the 00:00:00 bug happened. I was able to bid without qualifying for Round 3, still I was curious on what will happen if I bid one round so I bid one Token. Two or three seconds after my spending that one Token I got the player.
Now I have a player with probably the fastest training speed possible, it is a 21 year old DC - DC (F) player which didn't have a team before, worth 1.05M. (Yes, a free player worth 1.05M!). I just did all three trainings on normal and he got 25 / 54 / 55. Pretty nice.
