Saving training points

Hello I've been saving training points for 3 days now in hopes of assigning skills to my players.

There was no problem on facebook, they stayed there from night to day. But today I had to log on from the website and found out all my saved points were gone O___o

Were they auto-assigned? I noticed some players increased their star-level afterwards, but I'd like to be sure.
If so, how is one supposed to buy player's skills if the points are automatically spent?
Considering I was doing this at the end of the season, is it ok or do the points get wiped at the season change? (so, should I do it at season start?)

PS: I noticed that the mobile phone app also does this, so I already deleted it from my smartphone...

Your skill points are automatically applied to your players if you are playing on mobile platform, rather than applied manually.
