Gaining a level despite being 9 in the league

I was at level 6 the previous season. I played especially reserve team in the league to not be promoted - I wanted to improve my squad in the next season and make them to have about 120% (at the end of the passed season they were 109%). Now I opened the game and I saw I'm on level 7. How? I finished just 9th. It shouldn't be possible, right? What can I do about it?

9th position many times promotes to the next level.
It's a trick for those who stay on purpose.
(and is by the rules - small letters hahaha)
Next time go for 10th position.
Nothing you can do.

I finished 12th and still levelled up.

That's another rule for the top of the server teams.
I saw it in the forum before 4-5 months.
Unfortunately you don't have many teams in your top levels.
For some teams it starts about 45-50 LV, for others above 50 or 55.
