Negotiations - didn't get my money back

Hello Nordeus and forum!

My first post and a thread, hoping this is a bug, not a feature.

So I read all over the forum that negotiations is much better option than auctions.

I listened, offered tokens and money for a good player, got rejected, got tokens back but didn't get my money back.

Please please please don't tell me that's how negotiations work because then I'm out of this game this instant.
