Well for a start if he plays 5-1-3-2 then I'd give up as he's already starting with 12 players!

Joking aside I would start by looking over his previous games in the competition to see if there's any particular formation he struggles against, I wouldn't worry about player quality too much as more often than not from my experience the favourite doesn't always win!
