    Can't beat 3 2w 2 1 2 HELP!

    Hi folks,

I am having a lot of trouble with this formation. Should I go down the flanks or down the middle and what formation would be best to tackle should a nasty formation :/.

    ----st-----st------
    ------amc--------
    ---mc-----mc----
    dml----------dmr
    ---dc--dc--dc----

    Thanks,

    Shak

Do you mean through the middle?

What do you think of a 3N-1-3-2-1?

    Illegal -- no winger.

I can tell you that 4-1-2-1-2 ND is most effectivly when you play trough MIXED NOT MIDLE but it`s your choice

4-1-2-1-2 ND will be effective, but you want to use defensive, force-counter tactics, thorugh the middle, mixed/long passing (you can use man-on-man defending, but only if your DL, DCs, DR, DMC, and MCs are equal or better than the players they will cover). You can put down arrows on the DL/DR to make them support the DCs and defend against side crossing.

3n=5=2 flat will give you a more ballanced approach: normal mentality, through the middle, red arrows on the central MC and the 2 STs. If you want to press whole pitch, use short passing, and zonal defending. If you want to press your own half only, use mixed passing, zonal defending (if you use force-counter, switch to short passing and make sure you have fast defenders). - You can put down arrows on your central DC to make him a sweeper (a defender who stays behind the normal defensive line and goes after opponents/shots that get beyond the other defenders).

You can also use 3n=4-1-2: red arrows on the AMC & 2 STs, normal/attacking mentality, through the middle, whole pitch, short passing, and zonal defending. - You can also use the sweeper, explained above. 3n=4-1-2 is more focused on the opponents half, so if you don't have defenders that are an average of 2 quality better than the opponent's team average, then use 3n=5=2 flat or 4-1-2-1-2 ND instead.

3n-1-3w-2n-1 could work, but if he's using force-counter tactics your MC and DMC will become overwhelmed. Basically your ML/MR will have to cover his DML/DMR, your MC and DMC will have to cover his AMC and 2 MCs (2:3 player ratio). When they break through you will have your 3 DCs and a scrambling DMC having to cover his 2MCs, AMC, and 2 ST (4:5 player ratio). Basically you might score some goals, but he will counter-attack, and if you don't score on an attacking drive, he will still counter-attack.
