Unsymmetrical formation is a little difficult to read the strategy behind.
I'm sorry, I can't give you my best answer on how to beat those formation because I never face it personally. But when I see this, the first strategy come to my mind is the regular 4-1-4-1, short pass, down both flank, counter attack. It's more of a preventive strategy than a counter strategy. Later I'll make a necessary strategy modification during the match based on the statistic and comment, but if the 4-1-4-1 works then I would leave it as it is.
The 4-1-4-1 can change into 3W-1-4-2 or 4-1-3W-2 depends on how the match goes. If I dominate the middle, almost even shot on goal but still no goal for me then I take off 1 MC and put another ST. If the possession is almost even but I have better shot on goal but no goal then I'll take off 1 DC and put another ST.
So my point is, it's about improvisation during the match.
"Counter Strategy, not Counter Formation"
you should try 4-4-2 classic
normal mentality, down both flank, own half normal tackle, mix passing and zonal marking. NO caunter and no offside. you should win if opponent team didn't change their formation because this formation more balance compare your opponent.
for second half change to 3N-1-4-2 if your team lost or equal.use same order for. hope you get best result
please share result after match
yeah, 422 classic, Also you can try 4-1-2-1-2, or 4-3-1-2
