Counter for 4-1-2-1-2 ND this season?

This is my 6th season in the game, and as usual 4-1-2-1-2 is a tactic that i frequent, but at the same time afraid of.. I notice fot each season there seems to be diff counter for different formations..

Im now facing another player (4 quality, 1 level) above me in Cup and im struggling to counter his 4-1-2-1-2 ND. Last season, i notice 4-1-3W-2 was almost a definite win against ND (except troll matches). I've tried 4-1-3W-2 today with Defensive mentality and lost 4-2 today ( manage to get 2 goals after a desperate change to 4-3w-3).

Ive spent quite ab amount of time going through all the matches (mine, friends, league, CL, cup) results to look for an answer but it seems 4-1-2-1-2 formations are dominating whatever the other formation thrown at them...

I've also tried 4-5-1V, and 4-4-2 but lost (friendly). My next attempt i'll try 3n-1-3w-3.. any advices?

I always use 3N-1-4-2 against 4-1-2-1-2 ND and it works pretty good

I use normal mentality, mixed passing down both flanks with hard tackling. no counter, no offside
Red arrows on the two ST and ML/MR

Just lost 1-2 to a team 9 quality lower using 3n-1-4-2... To make things worst he had a red card too
And no its not a troll match, i had quite good ratings

4-5-1V or 3N-1-2-2W-1 works for me.

Tackling a ND is all about exploiting the flanks.

U do mean 4-5-1V or 3-5-2V? Anyways all my previous attemps do attack from flanks, motivated midfield wingers (ML/MR) similar to unmotivated AML/ AMR..

Do u use attacking, normal or defense mentality? This guy is like 4-5 quality better...

Yeah with the second formation i meant to say 3-5-2V, i only listed 10 players there, oops.

Only problem with 3-5-2V is that, whilst it covers you more defensively, flank attacks are less effective as you won't have a DR/DL supporting your wingers.

I've always gone attacking, no matter what quality the opponent's team are, but that's because I've usually got strong ST/AML/AMR players and that's the style i prefer, but a few people like to play defensive, forcing counters against stronger opposition.

Offside traps work well if you play with 3 at the back too.
